Life, the Internet, and Everything!

A Brief History of Web Design

by Web Designer

Structure upon the idea of the internet as an entire, Berners-Lee created the idea of utilizing a system of interlinked hypertext protocols to move a user from file to document therefore navigate the internet. He and his team developed the original Hypertext Transfer Protocol (http) along with a language in which documents could be composed, called HTML. They also developed the very first web browser– a program capable of checking out HTML and basically browsing the numerous documents.

And that is the vital point: in the end it boils down to what the visitor is looking for. So when designing a site, provide what they desire.

Google altered all of that when it banked on a heavy reliance on great old fashioned text to index websites. Unexpectedly it became important for a website to have text and details as opposed to fancy introductions and beeping menus in order to gather rank in search engines. New languages came along such as PHP, AJAX, jQuery and others to assist stay up to date with the demand for databases and text-based sites.

However quickly simplicity went overboard with images, music, ridiculous results and slow bandwidth. Things took for a short time a turn for the even worse when Adobe Flash came along. Although it might make a visitors website interaction intriguing, it weighed down heavily on bandwidth and a users time.

The first site in the world was hosted on a NeXT computer at CERN in a lab in the Swiss Alps. It described what the World Wide Web Project was all about, how to access it, what to use, how to further establish it and so on. It was developed or rather configured by Tim Berners-Lee, the developer of the World Wide Web himself.

Berners-Lees WWW site didnt have more than text and a few links. Google changed all of that when it banked on a heavy reliance on excellent old made text to index websites. Suddenly it became vital for a site to have text and details as opposed to fancy intros and beeping menus in order to amass rank in search engines. A designer requires to meet the ideal balance between style and info for a website to be user friendly. Text and posts still matter for indexing and ranking, but the more visual a website, the better.

Images require to speak their proverbial thousand words, while the words or texts require to be fascinating and succinct. While a lot of links are good in a SEO context, it is intriguing to note that more and more websites return to the standard one-page scheme that just requires scrolling. This may have to do with the fact that the web is increasingly utilized by phones and tablets: tapping on links can be annoying while scrolling is done with a basic flick of the finger.

Berners-Lees WWW site didnt have more than text and a few links. Most other websites that followed kept it easy.

The future looks easy where web design is concerned. A designer needs to fulfill the ideal balance between design and info for a website to be user friendly. Text and posts still matter for indexing and ranking, however the more visual a site, the much better. Charts and videos help reveal a visitor what they are searching for.

Bootstrap Customizer is not working. this msg is showing.
Sorry, the Bootstrap v2.3.2 Customizer is no longer available.
As of May 2014, we’ve discontinued operation of Bootstrap v2.3.2’s
Customizer. It’s been nearly a year since Bootstrap v2.3.2 was
released. Bootstrap v3 was released soon after, and is now mature. We
continue to encourage new projects to use Bootstrap v3.
    what shoud i do..?

Bootstrap has been updated to a new version since this video was made, and
they have moved it to a new website getbootstrap.com. There are some items
that no longer exist in the new version that were present in the version in
this video (getbootstrap.com/customize/) which makes it a bit more
difficult to know what is needed. Hopefully this video will be updated to
reflect the changes now with Bootstrap.
