Creating a Web Site

Creating a Web Site

It seems like every company has a web site today. That said, personal sites are plentiful as well. Whether it is for an organization, hobby or commercial purposes, web sites are ubiquitous. To learn more about web design from the experts themselves, continue reading this article.

Commercial Purposes

Web design is creating a web site, it really is as simple as that. Whether you code your HTML manually in Notepad or using a program like Dreamweaver, when you create a website, you are a web designer. There are levels of proficiency, of course, with masters having great experience and education behind them, and hobbyists doing it for fun and not profit.

CousiWeb Designn

The truth is that anyone can become a web designer as a hobby or a profession. It is so simple to create a website that even children are able to do it. You can learn with online tutorials, books or even classes at your local college. The hard part isn’t learning how to create a website, it is learning how to create a website which looks great, functions well and draws in visitors.

Creating

To be successful at web design, there are some skills that you need to have. The first is the ability to learn by teaching yourself as many new technologies pop up all the time and you won’t be able to take a class to learn them all. You also need to be dedicated as you may have to sit for hours working on a site. Obviously, you need to have some technical know-how already so that you can easily navigate your computer and the Internet to get the job done.

Creating Web Site

The cost of web design depends on who you hire to do it. For example, if your cousin is a hobbyist who offers his services to you, you could have an entire website designed for $500. That said, you get what you pay for, and the site he creates is likely to be pretty basic. If you want something more advanced, such as an e-commerce website, it will cost you at least a few thousand dollars, both for the labor and for the software which runs it.

Experience And Education

As far as web design as a career, there are literally thousands of competitors already out there. To compete, you have to know about all facets of web design, online marketing and even social media networking. If you can offer a whole suite of services to your clients, they are more likely to choose you over others who offer less, even if you end up charging more.

Hobbyist

Now that you know more about web design, you can use this knowledge to your advantage. If you have the skills, you can become a web designer and turn it into a career. If you want to try it as a hobby, have fun with it! If you just wanted to understand it so you are better able to hire someone to do it for you, you now have the knowledge you were after.

How Do I Create A Multiple Page Web Site Using Adobe Dreamweaver CS3? I have to create a web site with 8 pages. I have no clue on how to keep the same background and banner to be used for all web pages on the site. With the HTML code I have even a less clue on that.

    Links would be helpful

The above link is great for learning CSS and HTML. As it says, it allows you to play with the code and view the outcomes.

      http://www.w3schools.com/
This website has probably already been posted. Its one of the best on the net for learning the ways of coding for web design and development.

      http://www.make-a-web-site.com/
This will allow you to see a basic website and gives you all the basic information needed to create a website of your size.

      http://webdesign.about.com/
This website is one of my favorites. This site will give you information on EVERYTHING you need to know (Similar to W3Schools.)

To make a website with all the same banners etc…make the homepage how you want it, then enter ‘Code’ View and copy and paste the HTML (and other code you may have) by pressing Cntrl C, then create another page, enter that page’s Code View and press Cntrl V (this will paste the code into the box). Then enter the Design view (WYSIWYG) and view the page.

      I hope this helps.

How To Advertise The Stores In My Area, Through A Common Web Site ? I plan to create a web site in order to advertise the stores in my area for free. Many of them have no web presence. The web site will be common for all stores and it will work as a search catalog of stores and small businesses. Do you have any ideas how to do it and promote it through the web?

Most probably I could help you out in your venture. Please see the following website created with the same goal and they are doing fine.

You need to have your own website in which you could accept advertisements from the stores and services also.

You can also have your own eCommerce website, included to sell your own products or products of others on commission basis. See the following 2 URLs and contact them through their Contact Us page :

In Massachusetts, Do I Need To Collect Sales Tax When Selling Kittens On The Web Site? Hi. I am planning on creating my web site for the cattery I own. My question is if I am requiered to charge sales tax for selling kittens online.
    Are pets taxable in stores?

A taxable sale is a taxable sale regardless of how you and the buyer get together. If pets are taxable over the counter in MA, they’re taxable on a web storefront if delivered in MA.

Edit: MA typically only exempts clothing items below $175, prescription drugs, and grocery food items from tax. Check with the MA DOR website and register to collect and render sales taxes if you will be making taxable sales.

What Are The Things I Should Know Before Creating A Web Site? I want to become a web developer and I want to create a site in my summer holidays. What are the things I should learn before creating a web site. Most of the people tell me that I should learn XHTML, CSS, Javascript. Should I need to know PHP and such kind of server scripting for creating a website or client side is enough?

Give me the correct guideline so that I could learn correctly.
I need answers especially from those who have created a website.

http://www.webs.com/ (formally freewebs) is the easiest place to start a free Web site.

If you need your own domain you will need to buy one from a registrar like GoDaddy.

Here a few steps you can take to build your site (free hosts listed below):

      1) You can learn HTML free at http://www.w3schools.com/

      2) Get an HTML editor. The best free one is Kompozer: http://www.kompozer.net/

      3) Then you need to find a host like: http://www.godaddy.com/

Which Of The Following Is Not A Good Practice For Creating A Multimedia Web Site? Which of the following is not a good practice for creating a multimedia Web site?

    a. Try to minimize the number of ‘plug-ins’ a user will need.

    b. When large images are needed use thumbnail images that the user can click to display the full size image.

    c. Automatically download sound and video files instead of providing a link that the user must click on.

    d. Provide browser specific versions.

D is the correct answer. Designing for specific browsers is passe. Cross-browser compatibility is one of the goals of modern website design.

Dear Hopeful… Making a site “like Google” is far beyond the reach of a beginner who just begun to learn HTML for one side of the coin. You may have a chance to build it when you will have a few YEARS experience…
For the other side, to get millions of visitors to your site, you need to invest monumental amounts of money in advertising.
You MAY get a few hundred visitors a day with google ads, if you spend at least $500/month with them.

Build your site. Count your visitors using statcounter.com (a little script you put on your pages).
If you reach 1000 visitors a month after 6 months, consider yourself lucky!
Statcounter will open your eyes and tell you how (un)successful your site is!
(Don’t commit suicide on the lack of results).

How To Create A Web Site ? Web site

To make a website just follow this guide I made:

First, if you don’t really want to write and you just want to make a site fast with free hosting try these sites:

      1#Webs– webs.com/ | Formally FreeWebs
Simply sign up, chose a domain(www.yoursitename.webs.com), choose a templet, then ad content, and upload, as easy as that! The hosting is free, but you can upgrade to get more features.

      2#Weebly– weebly.com/
Create a free website or blog in minutes by using a simple drag and drop interface. No ads. One of Time’s 50 best websites of the year.

      2#Blogger– blogger.com/start
Great to start a blog, powered by google!

If you are willing to spend time learning (but want some help making it with a program) then check out these links:

      1#KompoZer– http://www.kompozer.net/
WYSIWYG HTML and CSS editor derived from Nvu. Binary downloads for Windows, Mac, and several variants of Linux. [Open Source]

By the way KompoZer is NVU’s Unofficial bug-fix because NVU was forgotten, it has so many bugs and crash so much they just gave-up. So don’t use NVU. Also the new version of KompoZer will most likely be BlueGriffen:
      bluegriffon.org/
It will fix all of KompZer problems while still using the KompoZer/NVU Look and feel.
      < --------------------------------Some Q and A-------------------------------->
      Q:
      What is a WYSIWYG editor?

      A:
Well stands for What You See Is What You Get it makes the code for you, if you place a image here on the screen it will make the code to do that, there are limitation thought but it’s still good.

When your site gets big and you need to control things easily then try a CMS(Content Managing System)
      < --------------------------------Some Q and A-------------------------------->
      Q:
      What’s a CMS?

      A:

      Q:

      Q: What’s Bandwidth?

You needa web host supporting online payments (ecommerce web hosts). As an experienced webmaster I recommend pick your web host by yourself. Don’t leave it up to your designer. Then you can upload your created website yourself or ask your designer to do that on your behalf.
Any bad web hosting service would trouble you for a long period. At first, try to choose a reliable service to get rid of the subsequent problems. Take a look at: http://threehosts.atspace.com/business There you can reach the three reputable companies that are leaders in the E-commerce web hosting industry.
