Search Engine Spiders

I’m sure you have read countless articles on how to become a better web designer. They have all focused on what is good to do, but how many focused on the mistakes common to the field? This article will give you all the don’ts you need to focus on, ensuring your websites are always top notch and very popular.

Using Flash or graphic navigation means search engines can’t index it and users may not understand it. Instead, use text-based navigation menus. Search engine spiders can easily read what the link says, allowing them to correctly categorize the page which lies beyond the link. Users also won’t have any problems when using devices which lack Flash or have graphics turned off. This makes navigation simple and effective.

Websites which scroll horizontally are rarely easy to use. Unless this is intentionally built into your design, it is only going to serve as a hindrance to using your website. Scrolling vertically isn’t a huge problem, but going from left to right just isn’t user friendly. Instead, have your content run up and down the page, as scrolling in that direction seems to make more sense to the reader.

A “Back” button which doesn’t go back. Some sites cause the “Back” button to stop working, be it through the use of Javascript, opening pages in new tabs or windows or by forwarding the user automatically to new pages. People want to be able to use the buttons in their browser as they are intended, so be sure that the website you create allows people to go back, forward, stop loading and even refresh as they wish to.

Bright, bold colors can lead to eye strain. If you use a simple palette with a single contrast color for small sections of the content, such as links and buttons, your reader will appreciate your respect for their health. You want your readers to be on your site for long periods of time, and that means they will be staring at your website. If it has a bright red background and blue text, they are unlikely to stick around long enough to truly benefit from your content. Give them a break, use a gentle color scheme.

Obvious ads in the content are viewed as undesirable by the reader. If you seamlessly include ads in your text, such as linking to Amazon within your content, that works well. It is just like television shows using a product in its appropriate context–it blends in and makes sense. If you smack an AdSense ad in the middle of an article, it will just look like a cash grab and throw off the reader.

As long as you learn from this article and follow its list of things not to do, you should face less hurdles as you create websites. The best way to become better at your job is to learn from the mistakes of others. Continue to read all you can to learn about the good, bad and ugly of web design.

Search engine optimization (SEO also search optimization) is the process of editing and organizing the content on a webpage or across a website to increase its potential relevance to specific keywords on specific search engines and importantly ensuring that external links to the site are correctly titled and in abundance. This is done with the aim of achieving a higher organic search listing and thus increasing the volume of targeted traffic from search engines.

Genetic Engineering Articles? I was wondering if you guys knew of any interesting articles considering genetic engineering. Thanks!

Genetic engineering is the alteration of genetic material by direct intervention in genetic processes with the purpose of producing new substances or improving functions of existing organisms. It is a very young, exciting, and controversial branch of the biological sciences. On the one hand, it offers the possibility of cures for diseases and countless material improvements to daily life. Hopes for the benefits of genetic engineering are symbolized by the Human Genome Project, a vast international effort to categorize all the genes in the human species. On the other hand, genetic engineering frightens many with its potential for misuse, either in Nazi-style schemes for population control or through simple bungling that might produce a biological holocaust caused by a man-made virus. Symbolic of the alarming possibilities is the furor inspired by a single

What Do You Think About This Article For The School Newspaper? How correct is it fashion-wise? and what about the language it’s written in? did you like it, or hate it? please tell me what you think…thank you very much:)

Indulge your Passion for Fall Fashion

    “Style is not superficial!
You deserve to take the way you look seriously.
I’ve made dressing and intellectual game.”
    InStyle 2008, Anne Hathaway

If fashion is your passion, obsession and many other “ssion”s I can’t think of right now then this article is for you. Fall is like a runway paradise, a season where one can find everything and anything, but what’s so absolutely amazing about this year is the variety of styles it merges. Bold and busy patterns (whether it’s African and Indian inspired fabrics or the classic British plaids), combined with Boho chic (relaxed 70’s hippie style) paired with 80’s style pointy toe shoes ( and yes they’re back in forms of trendy booties and stiletto heels) and countless other trends such as bold accessories (including ethnic cuff bracelets, African pearl jewellery, statement necklaces, wide belts) bags of all sorts (for the everyday look opt for big leather bags, or fringed purses, for formal occasions eccentric and eye-catching clutches are favored). Also seen on the runway was the tuxedo inspired look and Chanel-like glamour. It is hard to pick the ultimate colors of this season because of the diversity of styles as mentioned. The ethnic patterns are mainly in fiery shades of reds, oranges and yellows. Boho chic claims cooler colors such as blues, purples and neutral browns. Even more diverse does it get with the comeback of the 80s, bringing back neons and colors like fuscia, and to top this all off Chanel comes in play with its timeless black, white and creamy tones. Fall ’08 is all about experimenting, pairing rough and raw with glam and timeless; let your eccentric and laid-back hippie come out, and remember don’t get too psyched about one particular trend because “like a bus or a boyfriend there’s always another one coming”-Elle 2008

The article is certainly informative so high marks for content.

You need to come to grips with sentence and paragraph structure. This is a bit of a mess.

Good phrasing, sentence and paragraph organisation would make this a much more interesting read. One good tip is to read your article aloud as if you were addressing an audience. Note where you have to breathe – that’s the end of a sentence. Then, every time you change the subject – that’s where you need a new paragraph. Don’t forget, the paragraph change gives the reader a chance to absorb the information you have already given. Your single monster paragraph makes the reader feel like they are trying to memorise an encyclopedia.

Try to organise your facts in a slightly more logical sequence starting with the most important. Your organisation is not bad, it just needs a little improvement.

I do like your ending – always leave them smiling! Very good indeed!

Search engine optimization is optimizing your website for better indexing on the search engines (Google, yahoo, live etc).

How do you do that is –
      1. Add relevant content to your site.
      2. Use correct keywords and Metatags in your html (Search engine crawlers browse through these)
      3. Use quallity backlinks from related high quality sites.

Then your website is optimized and probably willl appear in top of test results beating the hell of other sites over there in internet. Example of optimized site:

Search engines are just websites to search things such as,,,, etc. Just go to your Internet browser such as Internet Explorer, Google Chrome, Mozilla Firefox, Safari, etc. and just type in the search engine website.

Here are a list of search engines you can try:

Google is the most popular and reliable search engine, so I recommend that and probably a million other people would agree with me too.

Most major search engines will find your website naturally, however it is possible to manually submit to search engines (here’s Googles for example – There are tools available to submit sites to multiple search engines but this isn’t something that is recommended.

The description under the link in the serps is called a meta description. This can be changed by editing the More details here -

I think your visited sites are showing as the first result in Google because you are logged into a Google account? You can simply log out to prevent this or go to the following link – and make sure “Web History is off” you may also need to go to search settings and turn off personal results. This will then show the true search results.

      Hope this helps!

Writing A Feature Article, 10 Points Up For Grabs!? I need to write i feature article on slave labour being used to help the production of cocoa. i have no idea where to start. please help!! 10 points for the best answer!

” Though he had worked countless days harvesting cocoa pods — 400 of which are needed to make a pound of chocolate — The young Diabate has never tasted the finished product. “I don’t know what chocolate is,” he told the press.
These child laborers face arduous work, as cacao pods must be cut from high branches with long-handled machetes, split open, and their beans scooped out. Children who are involved in the worst labor abuses come from countries such as Mali, Burkina Faso, and Togo — nations that are even more destitute than the impoverished Ivory Coast. Parents in these countries sell their children to traffickers believing that they will find honest work once they arrive in Ivory Coast and then send their earnings home. But as soon as they are separated from their families, the young boys are made to work for little or nothing. The children work long and hard — they head into the fields at 6:00 in the morning and often do not finish until 6:30 at night.
It is unbelievable and unacceptable that, in the beginning of the 21st century, the children of West Africa are trapped in such desperation and even slave labor.
How could modern society allow youngsters to be enslaved to produce a crop that becomes the very food – chocolate – that symbolizes happiness, luxury and romance?
