Search Engine Spiders

Search Engine Spiders

Even web designers have been known to fall prey to faux pas which make their websites utter failures. Over the decades since the Internet became public, these mistakes have been repeated time and time again. To learn from the mistakes of others and be able to avoid them yourself, read this article in full.

Decades

Your images aren’t just there to look pretty, but also have information in their tags which can help your search engine optimization. Include ALT and TITLE text so that users who have graphics turned off know what is supposed to be there. If your graphic is also a link, this is hugely important. Search engine spiders will also see this text and know what the graphic represents. That will allow them to better categorize your page and get it higher on the search engine results page.

Proofread, proofread, proofread, and then have your friends and family proofread too. One spelling or grammatical error, or typo, and your site will look unprofessional. This is especially important for link text which will be used to boost your search engine results ranking. Have everyone you know scour your site for mistakes. You could even hold a contest and give a prize to the person who found the most mistakes, such as an iTunes gift card. If you entice them with a prize, they’re more likely to put the most effort into the job.

Friends And Family

If something happens when your website loads and your menu doesn’t appear, most people will scroll to the bottom to find text links instead. It is important that you provide them with what they are looking for. Include links to your main pages as well as other links of interest. For example, you can link to your Contact Us page as well as your FAQ and user forum. This is a great area for providing tons of different links as it won’t be so confusing for the user as they expect it to be comprehensive.

Grammatical Error

Don’t use JavaScript in your links as it can cause problems for both readers and search engine spiders. If the user has JavaScript off, either the link won’t work or it will cause strange effects. Search engine spiders never have JavaScript on, so they won’t be able to follow your links and index the pages which lay behind. Leave your links alone and use URL tracking if you want to know who clicks on what.

Images

Any CAPTCHA on your site has to be easy to read. For example, FoodNetwork.ca uses CAPTCHAs which lay outside of the graphic, making half of the letter invisible. That means you can’t tell a “p” from a “q” or an “i” from a “j”. Choose a CAPTCHA service which includes legible graphics so that even someone on a tiny cell phone can read it.

Itunes Gift Card

It is as simple as using the content of this article to better your web design skills. Take the time to implement these ideas into your own strategies and you will soon find great success. Avoid errors by learning from others and begin to surpass your competition.

How Do The Search Engines Do It? Correct me if I am wrong, but I have noticed that Yahoo Answers! often appear in search engine results ( nothing unusual there ), but they always seem to be ” quality” answers rather than silly or pointless ones. How do the search engine spiders pick out the best quality YA! pages? I have seen articles on the web referring to the use of search engine bots having Artificial Intelligence. Do you believe it? Is it a myth or is this already an established fact?
    Thanks in advance.

      Search engine optimization (SEO) :
Search engine optimization (SEO) is the process of improving the volume and quality of traffic to a web site from search engines. Usually, the earlier a site is presented in the search results, or the higher it “ranks,” the more searchers will visit that site. The leading search engines, Google, Yahoo! and Microsoft, use crawlers to find pages for their algorithmic search results.

      Search Engine :
A Web search engine is a search engine designed to search for information on the World Wide Web. Information may consist of web pages, images and other types of files. Some search engines also mine data available in newsbooks, databases, or open directories. Unlike Web directories, which are maintained by human editors, search engines operate algorithmically or are a mixture of algorithmic and human input.

In google if you hit the cached option at the bottom line of the search result it will take you to the cached page on the top line of this it will tell you the date and time this page was cached on.

All the results on the page will not have the same cached date as the robots are constantly working at updating the cache’s and therefore what date a page is cached on is dependent on when the bot got to them.

If you’re unable to figure out the basics of SEO you could always consider hiring an Internet marketing company to help you get started. Don’t be too hard on yourself if you’re having difficulty. It takes the professionals years to become experts at SEO, and they have to continually keep up to date with the information as it changes on a daily and weekly basis. If you do a bit of online comparison shopping, you should be able to find a company who is able to offer these services at a decent rate.

SEO stands for Search Engine Optimization which helps to increase the number of visitors a website attracts through search engines. Therefore in order to achieve visitors to your website, proper search engine optimization is required. There are two categories of SEO such as
1)White Hat SEO - It refers to the use of natural SEO methods to achieve desired results. It is what is referred to as ethical SEO
2)Black Hat SEO - This type of SEO is also referred to as spamdexing. It uses methods that degrade the search results relevancy. This type of SEO is not for long term as search engines are incessant in looking for websites that integrated forbidden or unethical methods just to rank.

How Does Search Engine Works..? Please answer it in descriptive way..

Internet search engines are special sites that help people find information online. A search engine maintains a database of all websites or web pages it has indexed.

When someone uses a search term to do a search, the search engine will go through its database and pick the sites that it deems to be relevant to the search term used. It does not search the Web actually at this point. It merely presents to the searcher those sites that it already has in its database.

Search engines have software programs called “spiders” that search the Web continuously. These spiders crawl websites and web pages then identify them according to prominent words or keywords.

A new website crawled by spiders will be reported and recorded in a search engine’s database according to the category or keyword that it has been perceived to belong to. Spiders will keep coming back to the site to find any new information worth recording.

Websites that appear on the first pages of search results usually have high page rank. This ranking system is based on mysterious algorithms that vary among search engines. A website has to rank for a keyword or search term.

Websites with high page ranks are usually those perceived by search engines to be important sites or authority sites. This means they have many other relevant sites linking to them, ideally, through hyperlinks that use their keywords as anchor texts.
