Social Media Marketing Ideas For Facebook

Social Media Marketing Ideas For Facebook

by Deja Tweet

How do you market on Facebook? When you do social media marketing on Facebook I suggest you focus on each of three words separately. Let me explain what I mean. You need to look at your social engagement as one part of your plan. You need to choose what type of media you will use. You need to create a plan for your marketing that details your exact goals and desired outcome. Let us dive in and look at those elements for creating an effective Facebook campaign.

I always like to start the last word. What is my reason for this marketing campaign? I need to decide whether I am trying to make direct sales, get opt-ins for my email list, or just trying to expand followers on Facebook. Knowing the outcome helps me decide what type of content I need to create. It helps determine how I talk to people, also. In my business, I focus on increasing opt-ins for my email list or followers on Facebook. You need to determine the outcome you want, too.

Knowing your outcome helps you choose what call to action you use. Do you want people to hit the LIKE button on your Facebook Page? Do you want people to click a link to visit your squeeze page and opt-in to your email list? You can try to do both of those, but I highly recommend you focus on a single outcome for every new social media marketing campaign. Focusing on getting your readers to take a single action increases your odds of success. Make sure you choose your outcome before you move onto choosing your type of media.

What types of media can you use on Facebook? You have written posts, images, video, and audio. Each type of media has impact, but you need to remember your desired outcome before choosing your media. I focus on using images and video when I want to increase my number of followers on Facebook. I know video and photos are shared more frequently and have a higher chance of going viral. In my business, using motivational images and videos grabs the attention of the market I want to attract. When I share this type of media frequently, people click the Like button and add me as a friend so they can continue to see more of my content.

When I am focused on getting more opt-ins to my email list I change my social media marketing strategy slightly. I switch to using video tutorials and talking on camera. This allows me to give a higher impact call to action. With each video post, I include a text description with a strong call to action and a link to my opt-in page.

Once I know the outcome I want and the media I plan to use, the last step is easy. It is time to be social. I start posting content frequently on Facebook, sharing it in Facebook Groups, and then extending my reach by sharing the content on other social media sites likes Google+, YouTube, MySpace, and LinkedIn. The social part of your plan is simply socializing and sharing with your audience everywhere you find them.

Make sure you know your outcome. Choose the media that provides your best chance of success. Then get busy and start sharing your content with as large of audience as you can. That is the key to social media marketing success.

This book is stuffed with information! It is divided into 9 “books”. The first explains the various kinds of social media and how they are all different and how they are used, IDs marketing strategies and tactics. Then in the next 2 books the authors talk about how to post content and integrate the various cyber social tools, SEO strategies and methods of viral marketing and content marketing. The next five books look at all the ins and outs of using Twitter, Facebook, Instagram, Pinterest and smaller social media services. The final chapter is devoted to using various tools like Google Social Analytics to measure performance and use that data to guide your future marketing decisions.

As a new marketer who is only familiar with Facebook it was really informative. I will be using this reference a lot when redoing my website and building my business.

Quite the Fat Book of Usefulness, August 13, 2015

840 pages of Social Media insight, oh my! Seriously, this is the fattest Dummies book I have seen. It is choke full of useful information regarding using today’s biggest social media platforms to market your business or band or art or beanie baby collection. This book contains 9 books in one so to speak:

    –The Social Media Mix
    –Cybersocial Tools
    –Content Marketing
    –Twitter
    –Facebook and Instagram
    –LinkedIn
    –Pinterest
    –Other Social Media Marketing Sites
    –Measuring Results; Building on Success

It will take me months to fully digest this treasure trove of information. But, so far I have learned a bit more about how to really make Facebook and Instagram work for my marketing needs as well as now understanding how to use twitter a little better – still not convinced on how use it really is. There is a whole book alone on how to make Pinterest work for, which was very informative as I know it is a good place to get some exposure, but until reading this section, I just didn’t know where to begin with it.

One of the best areas of the book is on how to tap into, understand, and put to use each site’s analytics of how you are engaging with your audience.

    Highly recommend!

Books about social media tend to fall into one of two camps: those that focus on what you might call the philosophy of social media and those that look at the nuts and bolts. This book is in the second camp. That means that it will be out of date soon, so you should buy your copy quickly and get to work.

Much of the content will continue to be useful even when things change, because the book starts with a discussion about how to plan and manage your social campaign, goes on to a discussion of content marketing, and wraps up with instructions for using data to make strategic decisions in social media.

In between, it delves deeply into Twitter, Facebook, Instagram, LinkedIn, Pinterest, and G+, with some discussion of more specialized, smaller social media platforms. Pretty much everything you want to know about any of the social media platforms is covered. There are lots of referrals to good online tools and discussions of issues ranging from how to make your URLs look good to the legal issues surrounding curated content. Advertising on social media is also covered.

Be sure to check on rules and procedures as you go along, since those change frequently, but otherwise this book includes all the practical stuff you need to know to use social media for your business or organization.
