Search Engine Optimization

We will take a look at SEO in the following article. It is a good place to start if you are new to the subject. There is a lot more information available for those that want to make a more detailed study.

Using Keywords In Search Engine Optimization

Crowd

No one can run an effective website without optimizing it for search engines. If you have a website, you naturally want your target audience to find it. This requires the strategic use of keywords in your website. Learning search engine optimization is not hard, but there are basic things that you need to learn. This article will explain some of those ideas.

When a person wants to search for information on a topic, he enters a set of search terms into a search engine. The results that come back are ranked in the order of relevance, with the most relevant on top. These are the websites that are optimized most efficiently for that particular set of keywords. This is how search engines work, and that is why having good keywords in your web content is essential in good SEO strategy. >

Now that that you understand why keywords are important, you have to come up with keywords that are relevant to your website. Look at your business industry, and imagine someone trying to look for information about it. What words would they type into a search engine? As you think of some words and phrases, write them down. You can go to outside sources to come up with keywords as well. If you have industry literature around your office, read those and see if any phrases get your attention. Look at other websites that are offering products or services similar to yours, and get some ideas.

Description Tags

After you have list of keywords written, rank them by relevance. The first ten to twenty will be your core keywords. These will be used in strategic places on your website to give them maximum weight.

Engine

One of the core places for your best keywords is the title of your web page. This is the title that is at the top of your browser window. It is also the title displayed in your search result entry if that page was ranked. In your webpage code, this is found in the header section in the title meta tag. This is where you can change your page title to anything you want. Look at your list of core keywords, and see if you can use one or two of them.

Image Description

The description meta tag goes right along with the title in your entry in search results. Develop a good description using more of your keywords. People will be seeing your title and description and asking themselves if your website is worth their visit. If you want them to click on your entry, your title and description should give them a reason to visit.

Optimization

Keywords can be used in the file names of your web pages. They are effective in your headlines H1 tags. They can also make an image visible to search engines if these words are put in the image tag’s ALT attribute.

Page Titles

When you understand how keywords work, SEO will be more clear to you. This is just the tip of the iceberg. So, keep learning, apply what you have learned, and watch for improvement in your site rank.

One thing is for sure, information on this subject is available all over the Internet and this article is one of many articles available on the subject. Why Do All Search Engines Give You The Same Exact Links In The Same Exact Order? What’s the use in having different search engines if they all give you the same lame results?
9 out of 10 times what I am searching and the results they give me are way off.

Does anyone know of a search engine that actually gives you results to what you’re actually looking for and not just a guess from one or two words you type in the search bar?

How Do I Check If My Website Was Submitted To Search Engines? I paid a submission service to submit my website to search engines. I want to check if it was really submitted to Yahoo, AOL, Google, and more. When I did a search it appears not to be listed in any of them.

You can search for the keywords contained within your website pages and use the actualy domain name of the site on whichever search engine you want to check

But search engines have software called ‘spiders’ that search the web and pick out keywords from the code in the page and then add them to their catalogue of pages so you don’t need necessarily to submit your website for it to get onto the search engines

How To Get Top Billing On Search Engines Without Paying Big? How can I get my website to show up on the “free side” of any of the main search engines? I pay big bucks every month, when other smaller competitors show up on the left free side? How can I get my site to show up there without having to be a “paying sponsor” to?

The most effective way to advertise on the Internet is
to first set up a website and publish its domain name
on major search directories such as Google.com,
      Yahoo.com [at http://www.google.com/addurl/?…… and
MSN.com since 85% of Internet shoppers rely on these
search directories to provide them with goods and
services. In a sense, these search directories are a
      very large Internet Yellow Pages.

Nevertheless, should your website or opening webpage
fail to contain “generic” keywords, then anyone using
such “generic” queries will not be able to discover
your website. Your domain name [URL] of your website,
in a sense, will be invisible, undiscoverable.

You may want to consider some simple algorithms which,
when observed and committed in designing of a website
with placement of various critical metatags that can
surely achieve a high search engine presence and
increase Internet traffic to your website. These
metatag strategies work well with published webpages
      at Google and Yahoo.

Design: Should you create an extensive Flash-based
website, make sure to fill-in the property entries
such as the Title, Description and Keywords. Failing
to do so, leaves no hard HTML or ALT resource that can
be readily indexed by search robots. Also consider the
Internet audience and their incoming setup. For
example, if they are on analog/dialup, Flash webpages
take too long to load up and therefore analog users
will likely lose interest and discontinue entering the
Flash site. On the other hand, anyone on hi-speed DSL
lines, will welcome Flash pages which load quickly. So
before designing a pure Flash websitge, ask the simple
question, “Who’s my end user – is he on dialup or
DSL?” And if you had to choose between these two users
for maximum marketability, then select analog users
since 80% of most resident users are still analog
Internet subscribers and pure HTML designed webpages
      is best for them.

A non-Flash-based website which relies on hard text,
is far easier to be indexed by search robots. Limit
the use of stylized text saved as .gifs since as a
graphic, they are not indexable by search robots.

Avoid use of frames since any number of search robots
are unable to properly classify textual material.

      Placement of Metatags:

A ranking or search order does take place with Google
and Yahoo and it begins with the “Title” metag which
should consist of no more than 65 characters separated
by commas. The “Title” should describe in generic
terms, the goods and services, followed by a location
from which the resource is located, i.e., city, state.
The placement of a domain name which is not generic
within the “Title” is not appropriate, unless your
domain name is a major recognizable brand name.

The second metatag is the “Description” which is
usually 25-30 words to form a complete sentence which
best describes one’s goods and services.

And the very last category – “Keywords” are also
somewhat limited to 15-16 words which can be plural
and compound in nature. Again, avoid multiple entries
which could be mistaken as “spamdexed entries” which
is defined as the loading, and submission of
repetitive words into a particular metatag category.
“Spamdexing” when discovered on a webpage and reported
to Google’s spamreport.com can result in the
elimination of your website from their search
      directory.

      Good luck!

Search engine optimization is optimizing your website for better indexing on the search engines (Google, yahoo, live etc).

How do you do that is –
      1. Add relevant content to your site.
      2. Use correct keywords and Metatags in your html (Search engine crawlers browse through these)
      3. Use quallity backlinks from related high quality sites.

Then your website is optimized and probably willl appear in top of test results beating the hell of other sites over there in internet. Example of optimized site: http://videsiblog.blogspot.com

There are literally thousands of search engines. All you need do is type the word “search engines” into your search slot and presto you’ll be looking at loads more than you can deal with.

I’ve got at least 20 stored in my favourites.

Google is not the best search engine by any means. What it does do however, is make life easy for us surfers. However, for more detailed searching there are other and better engines.

There is so much competition between search engines, that the Yahoo spell checker seems not to know that the word Google is now part of the English language. Just how childish is that?

You should have a short and long term marketing goal for your website.
Short term must be immediate traffic and long term must focus on search engine optimization.

Immediate traffic is achieved by activity in forums and writing articles about your services/products. Your articles must obviously be of high quality and optimized with the necessary keywords which will attract readers. If your articles are very good then other webmasters may link to them creating extra traffic and backlinks to your website. Going back to the forums, you should be active in forums which are related to your website. Make sure to insert links to your site wherever possible without making it look spammy. These links also create backlinks to your website which again help your PR.

You use search engines to find information but more than that…

Search engines like Google prioritise information. The most important and popular documents go near the top. So you use search engines to find “relevant” information.

Search engines have evolved over the last 15 years. When I first started using search engines, you’d type in a keyword and get loads of results that weren’t prioritised, they were just a collection of pages that matched the word I had typed.

Information changes constantly, so we also use search engines to find up to date information. We don’t want to read information that is a day old, we want information that is new and up to date. We can use search engines to find the up to date information.

Search engines are there for convenience. We don’t want to sit and search through hundreds of documents, we want the information that is relevant.

Some search engines provide localised information, information relevant to our particular language or culture. Google has various versions of it’s web site, English, French, German. The United States version of Google, the Irish version and so on.

      – Convenient Information
      – Prioritised Information
      – Relevant Information
      – Updated Information
      – Localised Information

What Is User Driven Search Engine? Wikipedia founder Jimmy Wales is planning to launch a user driven search engine, Wikiasari …..what is that ??? and how that is different approach from the technique developed by google to do the searches???

    1. Reply

User Driven search engine is unique in that it provides a user driven search focused on Specific topic(say XYZ). As more and more people use the search engine to find that particular topic i.e. XYZ, the search engine learns from their behaviors such as click patterns and modifies future searches to provide more relevant and personalized results. The outcome of this personalized search is better and better results such as the most relevant pages move to the top of the search results and the least relevant pages, to include SPAM pages, move to the bottom.

The google search engine is much more complex than the USER DRIVEN Search Engine..

Sumbit Your Site To A Search Engine!? How to sumbit my site/ store to a search engine? How Often should i sumbit it? And about how long does it take to be on the search engine!? Please serious answers please!!

Different search engines have functionalities that would allow users to submit sites for free. How it usually works is, you would need to browse to the category in which you want your site to appear. There will be a submission link somewhere on that page to let you submit your site. It usually takes a week or two for your site to appear on the search engine though. Once it is submitted, you don’t have to submit again. However, what most search engines do is, they would cache your web page. If you don’t want the search engine to cache your page, you would need to do something on your end to not allow that to happen.
