What Is The Most Challenging Thing About Understanding How To Make Websites Successful For Your Business? Many companies tell what you need to do to make a website successful in getting traffic, and high search engine rankings. Many contradict each other and it is hard to know just what to do unless you are already an expert.
What does it take to achieve this? What problems have you experienced in understanding what to do and in assessing what is being advised?

That is a very good question!

The most challenging aspect that 99% of web designers still get wrong is that they should design sites for users first, search engines second and their clients third.

Users first because no matter how good the client thinks a website is if most users don’t love it then they will not use it.

Search engines second because no matter how good the client thinks a website is if it does not have high visibility in the search engines then there will be less visitors (users).

The client third because they are paying for it ?

So as a web designer you have to stop your client wanting to do stupid things and the only way to do that is be an expert on usability and search engine optimization. Not easy ?

Best Way To Get Organic Traffic To A Promotional Website? I have built a promotional website, it contains several referral links to survey/offers sites that pay you. I searched around and found out google doesn’t like those kind of sites, what is the best way to get good search engine and page rankings to get organic traffic?

How to generate Quality Targeted Traffic to your website
      ============== ============== ==============

      I.) Content
It is most important factor ever affecting a website’s traffic, that what your website actually contains. And it affects in many ways. Create your website professionally, make it load fast and look great, write correct grammar and write cheerfully. Have a lot of content on your website so that people have reasons to wishlist and bookmark. make your website a brand, make it themed and your logo and banners must match.

      II.) Advertising
You can get real quality traffic most easily with Paid per click advertising. you pay only someone interested in your ads clicks them and come to your website, these visitors are very probable to convert into customers.
You must try Google Adwords (with free coupon to start with if you can find one)

      III.) S E O
Search Engine Optimization is never least important. Build a lot of links, submit to social bookmarks, submit to article directories and web directories. Optimize your pages for targeted keywords and see organic traffic start flowing to your pages. Most of the major websites get more than 50% traffic from Search Engines only, so this part is very important. You can hire a permanent SEO Expert ( I will recommend cheap service ) or at least get a service which submits your website to as many web directories as possible.

      Hope it helps ?

How Do You Do Search Engine Marketing In Seattle? I have a website for my business located in Seattle and would like to learn how I can do Search Engine Marketing in Seattle to improve my websites rankings on Google searches.

I’m also a business owner in the Seattle area and was in the same boat as you are just last year.
I had a website but nobody could find it. A good friend of mine (who also is a business owner) referred me to a really good top notch SEO company at They took my website from “I can’t find it anywhere” to the first page on Google! It was the best move I ever made for my company.
You will find out all you need to know from their website. When you call, ask for Dave, he was a really nice guy and held my hand through the whole process of getting my business on page 1 of Google and he loves what he does. I can’t blame him. What’s not to love about helping other people make money and getting paid for it. Well, I hope this helps and that I have answered your question to your liking. Good luck!

Learn all the whitehat methods to onpage and offpage factors.

Here’s one important fact you must understand — Create backlinks in sites that Google prefers. It’s kind of trust preference.

Look at the top-10 ranking. You’ll notice the usual sites that Google loves. Check if those sites allow you to add values. Do not spam, however. Blend in well and you’ll have guarenteed backlinks.

What’s The Best Way To Improve My Search Engine Rankings.? I’ve been trying to learn SEO for about a month now and all I really get is a bunch of information that I can’t actually apply. I have an ecommerce store that I would like to market and get some good search engine rankings.

Is there any good SEO blueprints out there, that will teach how to rank step by step?

I was in your shoes a few years ago and I feel your pain. You can learn all the SEO in the world but if you don’t have a solid step by step game plan, chances are you won’t get any results.

When it comes down to it, SEO is all about

      1. Finding the right keywords to rank for

      2. Optimizing your website to rank in Google for those keywords

      3. Then building backlinks with those keywords

Of course there is a system to each of those steps but it would take all day for me to explain. You can visit my SEO blog if you get more info. It’s in the resources section right below.

How Do I Get My Companies Website To Appear In The Top Of Search Engine Results Without Paying? I know I can pay to advertise on yahoo and google, but I’ve also heard you can become one of googles top search returns another way. How do I do this for google, yahoo and other search engines? Thanks everyone!

The process you are referring to is called “search engine optimization” or SEO. Contrary to popular belief, SEO is not free. Although you are not directly paying for traffic the practice still has its costs when you factor in the time spent optimizing your website, any consulting fees you pay to move up the rankings, and the purchasing of backlinks. There are, however, ways in which you can improve your search engine ranking on the cheap.

The first and most important aspect of SEO is link building. Link building is the process of getting other websites to link to your website. The first thing you must understand about link building is the concept of anchor text. Anchor text is the text used to hyperlink to another webpage. When requesting or paying for backlinks you should pick three or four keywords that you would like to be associated with and use them as anchor text for incoming links. These words must be relevant and specific in order to have the most positive effect on your search ranking. This is fundamental to your SEO efforts. Get this part wrong and you will certainly have wasted your time.

The most obvious target for links to your website, also called backlinks, are influential web directories such as DMOZ, Yahoo Directory, Google Directory, and Best of the Web. It is best to stick a few with high quality directories rather than submitting your site to every directory you come across. Another source of backlinks are bloggers that write about your industry. Develop a relationship with bloggers and provide them with content such as interviews or expert articles in exchange for backlinks. Press releases are yet another source of backlinks. Every company communicates with the press on occasion. Be sure your company is optimizing its press releases for the web by including links to your website and submitting the release to news wires such as PRWeb. Finally, there are paid links which quite obviously means you will be paying for the specific placement of a backlink on a website. Google has recently cracked down on the use of paid links. After this change paid links are more risky and less rewarding. Buyer beware. Collectively, these tactics are referred to as “off-site optimization” because they take place on other websites.

The other half of search engine optimization is on-site optimization which deals entirely with how your webpage is constructed. On-site optimization consists of writing relevant, timely, and keyword-laden copy, managing the use of meta-keywords and descriptions, as well as proper use of title tags in html, and internal linking. As with off-site optimizaiton pick three or four specific keywords for which you would like your website to rank well. Write copy that includes these words frequently, but be careful not to overdue it. A good rule of thumb is that your copy should always read well to a human. If someone reads your copy and it is obvious you are overusing particular words it will be obvious to the search engines as well, and you will be penalized. Next, every webpage has what are known as meta-keywords and meta-descriptions. I will not go into the details about why these are important, but be sure the keywords you have selected also appear in the meta tags. The same is true of title tags. Title tags appear at the very top of the web browser and are titles that describe the content of the page. Finally, internal linking is essential to on-site optimization. Link to content across your site (known as “deep linking”) using the keywords or keyword variations you have selected.

Ultimately, search engine optimization is a very complex skill. Search engines are constantly changing the way they rank websites and if done incorrectly it is easy to do more harm than good. Thankfully there are many companies available to help you. One highly recommended company that will do SEO consulting is Market Motive which has assembled a dream team of internet marketing experts. They also have a content subscription service which can be very helpful for do-it-yourselfers.

      Hope that helps. Good luck.

Saket – I recommend you re-write the articles around your targeted keywords and submit them as new articles. There are several reasons for doing this:

      1. I assume your existing articles have already been indexed by search engines. In such a case they have aged some, and the older any web page is without changes, the better off you are as the links from the article(s) to your site will count more and more as the article page(s) age over time (at least with Google this is the case).

      2. Adding additional articles adds additional links back to your site which is positive, while leaving the others alone. This will make your site more relevant for the keywords used in the links to your site.

Each time Google detects changes in a page they flag it, and depending on how extensive the changes are they can place the page in the “sandbox” and not count the page and any outbound links as relevant for a while…it can take several weeks for Google to then trust such a page again. They do this so people can’t make big changes and influence their search engine results immediately.

In real estate it’s all about location, location, location.

In SEO it’s all about links, links, links, so leave the ones you have alone and go create some more!

      Best of luck to you!

Search Engine Apperance? How can i enlist my web site to appear on top search engines like google and yahoo, msn

    View Comment
    1. Reply

First, make sure that you submit your website to the search engines. It takes anywhere from 2 weeks to even 6 months for websites to show up in the search engines. In some cases, a website will show up after 2 weeks of being online, only to disappear for maybe 3-6 months (which is called Google sandbox, though Yahoo to a certain extent also does)

With Yahoo, you can go to to submit your site for free. For guaranteed inclusion in their search engine, you have to pay and use their paid services

Ranking high in the search engines, however, is a tougher ballgame. Search engines look at the following factors in ranking websites, though in varying degrees of importance:

      – Age = an older site stand a higher chance of getting better rankings than newer sites because they are more established (especially if considered an authority in the field) and a lot more incoming links

      – Quality and Uniqueness of the Content = sites rank well if they have content that users consider relevant and original, not rehashed or using content used by hundred other websites (e.g. articles in article submission directories)

      – Keyword density = number of times the keyword appears on the site. This also includes having the keywords in important places such as the title, metatags, even H1s and H2s

      – How it fares in the results = when it comes up in the search engines, are people clicking on it or not. If not, search engines consider the site to be not relevant to the keyword. Also, how long does the user stay on the site; if they hit the back button immediately, then the site may not be relevant to the search term

      – Site structure = on-page factors to sitemaps

      – Backlinks = who are linking to the site and what are their quality (the more authoritative the site linking to your site, the better).

If you are going to read only one piece on search engine optimization, I suggest you read Brett Tabke of’s “Successful Site in 12 Months with Google Alone: 26 steps to 15k a day.” has different sections that cover various aspects of search engine optimization, and each section is participated in by respected webmasters and even search engine employees (e.g. there’s a GoogleGuy that responds to Google topics)

Other resources that can help you get top ranking in the search engines are:

      Google Press Releases
Matt Cutts Blog (Matt is a Google software engineer)
      Digitalpoint Yahoo Forums
      SearchEngineWatch’s MSN Forums

As for tools to help you get top rankings in the search engine, here are some of the best in the field today

My Website Has Great Search Engine Rankings I Want To Change Hosting Companies Will This Affect My Rankings?

    View Comment
    1. Reply

Yes, no matter which Web hosting you change to, your search engine rankings will temporarily drop due to an IP address change, even if your Website address/domain name stays the same. Even when companies keep their currnet Web hosting company but change servers, their search engine rankings drop temporarily…

It may take up to a few months before your rankings will steadily start climbing again, due to search engines updating and maintaining their search algorithms periodically. It helps while waiting for your rankings to climb again (if changing hosting companies becomes absolutely necessary) to bring in and increase the number of new additional website links to your own site. This may help speed the process up a little.

Does WordPress Hurt Search Engine Rankings? A couple of years ago, I started building one of my websites the hard way (writing HTML and simple PHP myself). But as my traffic grew, I decided to give WordPress a try.

The by-hand pages I did have pretty good rankings in Google. (#1 out of millions of search results for several of my key words.) But the wordpress pages don’t appear to be doing as well. … Does word press clutter up the code and hurt rankings? Or is it just a coincidence that the pages that are doing best are the ones I haven’t moved to wordpress yet?
Thanks j k … I installed the SEO plugin a while ago but haven’t had time to go back and update all of my pages with it. I will focus on that next time I have time for maintenance type work.

You have updated your website and this will require indexation from any search engine, so all you new pages will probably be read and indexed from any search engine against the old ones that are there already.

WordPress do an amazing job when talking about search engine optimization. Make sure your wordpress site is fully configured with the correct plugins to provide this as well.

      Note, search engines will count:

      1. age of the site
      2. age of the page
      3. content of the page
      5. site map (plugin – google sitemap)
      6. some, still use the meta tag descriptions, so make sure that you have those worked out (there is a plugin for this).
      7. url format – If you are using pages or unique posts, you can format the url permalinks on the settings to be displayed in a better way so search engines can better retrieve it.

If you want some more tools, use:

      1. Google Analytics
      2. Google Webmaster Tools
      3. Google site optmization

How To Boost Your Search Engine Rankings With SEO Copywriting Tips ?

    View Comment
    1. Reply

You need to research keywords people would search for and then use these keywords in your site’s content and articles you submit. Inserting the keywords intelligently in these articles/content is the key part. Now you just cannot stuff your content with keywords, it would raise a red flag. The most important thing is to keep updating your content by adding new articles and other stuff that people would want to search for. That is the best way to get more stable traffic.
