Search Engine Spiders and Search Visibility

Search Engine Spiders and Search Visibility

Are you finding the information on the subject of SEO confusing? Perhaps you are finding much of the information contradictory? If so, you are not alone. That’s the reason why we developed our website. We spent time trying to gather the facts for ourselves, unfortunately, what we found didn’t help us make decisions at all.

How Search Engine Optimization Can Help You Get More Visibility

Anchor Text

Do you need to improve the visibility of your website? An efficient search engine optimization campaign will help you get more traffic. Go over this article if you need help with your search engine optimization strategies.

Engine

Start by selecting some strong keywords for your website. Visit Google AdWords to get useful information on different keywords. Choose keywords your visitors would look up on a search engine. If you want to sell a product, choose keywords related to shopping or discounts. Do not hesitate to update your keywords regularly in case your visitors start using different keywords. Ideally, you should have five strong keywords and some secondary keywords if you need to. Find out which keywords your competitors are using and avoid using the same keywords unless you want to compete more directly with these sites. >

Your keywords should be used to optimize your different elements. Placing keywords in your texts is helpful as long as you keep your keyword density low. Focus on placing keywords in different HTML tags so you can efficiently describe your elements. You can use title tags to describe an article or an entire page if you place the title tag in a header. Alt tags are the best way to describe images and you can use anchor texts to optimize your links.

Engine Optimization Campaign

Choose a simple design for your website. Your content will be much easier to analyze if your design is simple. Create HTML pages that are free of errors and try placing your most important elements toward the top of your pages. Using pictures for your background or for your header is not a good option. Most search engine spiders cannot properly analyze Flash or Java Script, which is why you should avoid using these languages or properly describe these elements.

Flash Elements

Organize your website to help your visitors find the content they need. Organize your important links in a menu and place individual links inside all your articles. All your pages should be connected to one another so a visitor can easily find all the pages of your site. More of your pages will be indexed if you properly organize your website. Add an XML sitemap to your server if you can find a quality plugin to build one.

Google

Create some back-links in visible places. Do not waste your time with creating back-links that will not be noticed by the audience you want to target. Try getting more back-links regularly since links will eventually stop bringing traffic to your site. Getting quality back-links will be easier if you create content that others will want to share. You can easily get more back-links by sharing your content on your blog, your message board and on article directories.

Keyword Phrases

Apply these search engine optimization methods to develop your campaign and increase the ranking of your pages in search results. You should stay up to date with new methods and make sure the strategies you use are relevant to the algorithms used by search engines.

I typically charge $150/hour for SEO services that include on-page optimization, link building, and linkbait strategizing. I don’t engage in any of the bogus search engine submissions, though.

For PPC, I charge the same rate for setup, along with a monthly fee equal to 20% of the PPC spending

Blog setup and promotion are also billed at the $150/hour rate.

Search engine optimization (SEO) is the process of improving the volume and quality of traffic to a web site from search engines via “natural” (“organic” or “algorithmic”) search results for targeted keywords. Usually, the earlier a site is presented in the search results or the higher it “ranks”, the more searchers will visit that site. SEO can also target different kinds of search, including image search, local search, and industry-specific vertical search engines.

      Hope it helped.

SEO – Search Engine Optimization is a science of optimizing a website such that it would rank higher in a search engine than its form before optimization.

You need to understand the basics of how Search Engine works before you can understand SEO.

To summarize, a search engine is basically a database of indexes of webpages. Like how a library indexes its books, when you search in the library database for ‘Harry Potter’, it would return all the books related to Harry Potter. Similarly, when you search for Harry Potter, it would produce a list of webpages related to Harry Potter.

The complexity comes in how webpages are indexed. Some of the main factors include the Title of the page, the URL of the page, the header text of the page, the text, and what other pages link to it. Other factors include how the page is structured, how images are labelled, and what shows up in the meta-tags.

If you can optimize all of these factors, you can better control how search engines indexes your webpage, thus how well it is ranked. Naturally, there are competitors who are doing exactly the same thing, so nothing can guarantee Top Rank if you competitors do a better job.

Please feel free to check out my blog to understand the ins-and-outs of online marketing – SEO is certainly one of the factors.

      Hope that helps,

Other, more noticeable efforts may include adding unique content to a site, ensuring that content is easily indexed by search engine robots, and making the site more appealing to users. Another class of techniques, known as “Black Hat” SEO or spamdexing, use methods such as link farms and keyword stuffing that tend to harm search engine user experience. Search engines look for sites that employ these techniques and may remove their listings.

Search engine optimization (also known as SEO) is a way of adding certain keywords, certain links, and certain content within a website to allow for better page ranking within search engines such as Google or Yahoo or Bing.

For example, if you have a website based on cars, you would add as much content and car words that have to do with car parts such as: engines, breaks, transmissions, gasoline, repairs, maintenance, tires, dents, body work, etc etc. This will allow the search engines to better direct vistors to your site as you have more relevant content (hopefully) about cars then another site.

SEO may target different kinds of search, including image search, local search, video search, academic search,[1] news search and industry-specific vertical search engines.

Search Engine Optimization? Plz help me in optimizing my site http://www.dsu.edu.

      Often we get asked to do search engine optimization for various clients who have existing websites. We will review the websites, and we are amazed at the blunders made by the previous webmasters. Some of those blunders are;

Using images in place of text.
No use of alt text in value added images.
      Over use of images.
      Lack of headings tags.
Poorly written title and description tags.
      What do these all mean?

Using Images in Place of Text – Often, you will see a logo in the corner of a website with a company slogan, or a bulleted list of services on a website that are no more than an image. A search engine spider can not read the text in an image, it sees it as nothing more than an image. To see what your website looks like to a search engine spider, go to http://www.seochat.com/seo-tools/spider-simulator/

No Use of Alt Text – When writing your html and inserting images, you will probably enter code that looks something like this...
      img src="images/website_hosting2.gif" mce_src="images/website_hosting2.gif" alt="website hosting" width="16? height="16? border="0?

Notice the alt= part. This is an opportunity to associate the image with a valuable keyword, be be aware of keyword stuffing as alt tags are intended for ease of navigation for individuals with disabilities.

OverUse of Images – This has more of an impact on the visitors browsing experience and has an impact on load time of your website. Overuse of images can dilute your keyword density as well. Remember, content is king.

Missing Heading Tags – Headings tags are used to give emphasis to certain words or paragraphs within the context of your website. This is typically done by using a H1, H2, H3 or other H tag. These tags tell the search engine spiders that particular emphasis should be put on this term when evaluating what the website is about.

Poorly Written Title and Description – This is just what it implies. A poorly written title or description of your site can have a devestating effect on your seo efforts.

      Additional on page factors that impact SEO that aren't as obvious are;

      Poor code to text ratio.
Content too far down in the code.
      Low or excessive keyword ratios.
      Low keyword prominance.
      Excessive use of tables.
      Use of frames.
      URL Structuring for dynamic websites.
      Duplicate Content/Canonical Issues.
      No Site Map
Excessive Use of Java or other scripting.

The lists above do not address all potential SEO killers. Addressing these items alone does not guarantee successful placement in SERPS (Search Engine Placement Results), but one can not have a successful seo campaign by ignoring these. When designing your website, make sure that you are observing SEO Best Practices. Doing so will make your seo campaign much easier in the long run.

What Is SEO Or Search Engine Optimization? How To Do SEO?

    View Comment
    1. Reply

SEO (Search Engine Optimization) techniques can either be organic or paid. Paid (PPC) can be useful in identifying the keywords you should target for your SEO campaign, however, many small companies cannot afford these types of PPC campaigns. Organic SEO involves optimizing on-site SEO by first identifying your target keywords and long-tail keywords. A long-tail keyword phrase is the best technique for small businesses because there is usually less competition for these keywords, and it is rare for someone to enter just one word into a search engine search bar. Examples of long-tail keywords are: “Organic butter from Lancaster PA”, or “Organic Pick your own berry farms in PA”, whereas regular keywords are “Organic butter”, “butter”, “Berries”.
You will want to target low to medium competition keywords with medium to high search volume. You can also try GEO-SEO which is using your geographic location to target customers, which might be useful for a small store trying to attract local customers.

Here is what you should target for SEO:

-Use your keywords that are relevant to each pages content in your title tags,

      tags, and meta-description tags.
-Make sure to use alt=”” attribute in your image html (search engine spiders can’t see your images, so help yourself by helping them and use the alt=”” attribute.
-The higher your content is on the page (above the fold), the more value it will impart.
-Link to other pages (deep pages) within your own website.
-Link to others in your industry (relevant)
-Make sure you have a call to action on any pages that you would want to place “contact us at”.
This is your big neon sign that screams “Get Yours Here!”

Off-site SEO involves building back-links to your website from other sites that have high authority, are popular, are a valuable resource in their industry (your industry).

I go into this in great detail on my website blog and I recently answered a question on back-links for Yahoo! if you would like to know more 8)

Search engine practitioners believe that SEO is a necessary requirement to enable quality web sites to achieve good search engine rankings. The compromise seems to be that search engine operators define some SEO activities as “white hat SEO”(Good) and other SEO activities as “blackhat SEO”(bad) Search engine operators attempt to manually or automatically penalize “blackhat SEO” when they find it or when it is reported to them.

Here are some official guidelines from search engine operators regarding search engine optimization:

      o Google’s Webmaster Guidelines – Google.com/support/webmasters
o MSN Search Guidelines for Webmasters & Resources – Webmaster.live.com
      o Yahoo’s search engine ranking tips & Resources – Help.yahoo.com/l/us/yahoo/search/webmaster/webmaster-01
As Internet Marketing becomes essential need for each and every online business now, there is lot of marketing firms grown up globally. There is really lot of evaluation needed to find good firms to outsource the online marketing campaigns.

What Is Meant By Search Engine & Image Search Optimization? Explain in detail

    View Comment
    1. Reply

A search engine is a service provided by some company (Google, Yahoo, Microsoft, etc.) which will search through millions of web pages for keywords that a person types into a field. For instance, if I type “Puppy” into a search box on Google’s web site, there are currently 40,800,000 matches available. If the search provider has a good search algorithm in their software, then the most relevant pages should be listed first. In my case, I’m a happy searcher, because after the Google Image samples, the first result listed is the Puppy Linux website, which is the only Puppy I would ever be searching for online. Most search providers keep track of what websites people will actually visit after doing a search. They then use the results to make sure those pages are closer to the top of the list for the next time someone searches for the same keyword(s).

Image search optimization is about using images on your website to draw more “click-throughs” from the search provider, thereby raising your rank in the search list. This, in turn, helps to ensure that you keep getting more visits to your site. A neat article I just found by typing “image search optimization” into Google Search is linked below.
