There is no need to resubmit your web site, however I would strongly recommend using a standard sitemap and pointing Google and other engines to it. There is a blurb in the following article about the importance of doing so. If your CMS does not produce one automatically, you can check out the second link.

How Do I Get #1 Ranking On A Search Engine Without Paying? I would like to get top ranking on search engines like yahoo and google. What is the best way to do it? I do not want to pay some service for this.

We got to the top of the search engine without paying anyone. My website is #2 (and sometimes #1) out of 6.14 billion websites for the very competitive keyword “home business” (after Entrepreneur.com). And we rank #1 for many of our other keywords.

I followed Brett Tabke’s (of WebmasterWorld.com) advice in his Successful Site in 12 Months with Google Alone: 26 steps to 15k a day post http://www.webmasterworld.com/forum3/2010.htm . I find this to be the most succinct, most effective and most comprehensive of all articles written on getting to the top of the search engines.

The Yahoo section of WebmasterWorld.com has the best tips in terms of ranking in Yahoo.

If you could follow each of the advice listed, I assure you that you can start improving your search engine rankings in no time. It is not easy, but it can be done.

How To Improve Search Engine Ranking.?

Search engines DO NOT go by the amount of hits to your site.

Make sure you have meta tags on your webpages that reflect the content on your site. This site has great info on how to optimize your webpages for search engines http://www.searchbliss.com/seo-tools/search-engine-optimization.htm This is where I learned how to use my meta tags, keywords and content to get my website the best possible results.

You can improve your rankings by your link popularity. Try submitting your website to directories. Some that have been useful in improving my rankings are: http://www.limerex.com , http://www.tatet.com/ , http://www.slackalice.com/ , http://www.lookdirectory.com/
Also look for websites that have similar content as yours that are willing to trade links with you. Searchbliss has a neat tool called a backlinks finder that helps you find websites that you can submit your link to: http://www.searchbliss.com/seo-tools/back-links-finder.asp

I did all of these things and my website has really good rankings for my targeted keywords.

      Hello,

WordPress is a fantastic blogging platform, I love using it! But if you are using a fresh WordPress install you'll probably not get much in the way of traffic. Luckily WordPress is super easy to optimize.

-one of the most importent thing is you can ealiy optimize your page titles.

-using keywords in you post title is important, but also use to need to use keywords throughout your post.

      -change permalink strcture very simple

-we can add posting everyday or every week, so the
search engines prefer to your site

-we can add sitemap also, then search engines find easily

      regards,

Is It True That A Longer Term Domain Resistration Increases Search Engine Rankings.?

Maybe with some search engine(s) but even if it is part of some search engines algorithm it is a minor factor and only one of many that are taken into consideration.

Far more important are things like content, backlinks, age of site, page title, keyword frequency, keyword with H1 tag, etc.

But as already suggested you should probably take advantage of any option that might help. If you expect the site to still be active in 2 years register for more than a year. Can’t hurt

Search Engine Rankings? I currently own a webpage design business and help numerous businesses on their websites, I notice that the websites I help design some are ranked quite high on search engines, I notice the rankings will go back and forth, question is if I loose rankings on a particular business that I am helping out on a website but then they loose their rankings, am I to blame? I almost feel that there is times when theres no control over where the rankings are, a way I can have control over that?

    1. Reply

You have some control but not complete control.

Optimizing a website for the search engines is in two logical parts; on-page optimization and off-page optimization.

On-page is everything that is done on the website’s pages to improve search engine rankings and off-page is everything else, like obtaining inbound links for example.

As a web designer you can control on-page factors but not off-page factors.

Very few designers know even the basics of search engine optimization and if you were to study it for a while your clients will benefit substantially and hence so will your business

Start with this excellent tutorial http://www.seo-blog.com/tutorial.php and by the end you will be providing your clients with a lot more!

How To Increase Rankings On Search Engines? I have been asked by somebody to investigate how to get more ‘hits’ from search engines like Google. How does one optimize their web page so they may be listed as the first result?

SEO is the active practice of optimizing a web site by improving internal and external aspects in order to increase the traffic the site receives from search engines.
      http://www.seomoz.org/article/beginners-guide-to-search-engine-optimization

      Keyword search
Keyword research enables site owners to choose keywords when constructing and optimizing a website (page). Keyword research is also extensively used to manage PPC advertising campaigns or if you are looking to research and identify profitable niche markets.

When performing keyword research for constructing and optimizing a website (page) you are looking to select search terms that will reach your target audience. One of the common mistakes made by some SEOs is to avoid choosing keywords that are very competitive. Searchers tend to use a lot modifiers when they search and the more competitive the search term the more likely they are to use a modifier. Removing the possibility of ranking well for these modified searches is not a good idea. Competition can be a factor in deciding how to target a specific search term but you should never ignore a search term simply because you believe it is too competitive. http://www.seo-blog.com/tutorial.php

You can do several things to increase traffic flow.
When making your own web site do some research on how to optimize your site so that you get a good ranking with a natural search. You do this by embedding smart key words.
1 )Key word tool by google https://adwords.google.com/select/KeywordToolExternal

      2) Keyword suggestion http://www.seochat.com/seo-tools/keyword-suggestions-google/

      3) Keyword Typo Generator Tool
      https://adwords.google.com/select/TrafficEstimatorSandbox

      4)Freeky word http://freekeywords.wordtracker.com/

You need get your web address in as many locations as possible on the net. You do this by article submission, link swap and free classifieds.

Search Engine Apperance? How can i enlist my web site to appear on top search engines like google and yahoo, msn

    View Comment
    1. Reply

First, make sure that you submit your website to the search engines. It takes anywhere from 2 weeks to even 6 months for websites to show up in the search engines. In some cases, a website will show up after 2 weeks of being online, only to disappear for maybe 3-6 months (which is called Google sandbox, though Yahoo to a certain extent also does)

With Yahoo, you can go to https://siteexplorer.search.yahoo.com/submit to submit your site for free. For guaranteed inclusion in their search engine, you have to pay and use their paid services http://search.yahoo.com/info/submit.html

Ranking high in the search engines, however, is a tougher ballgame. Search engines look at the following factors in ranking websites, though in varying degrees of importance:

      – Age = an older site stand a higher chance of getting better rankings than newer sites because they are more established (especially if considered an authority in the field) and a lot more incoming links

      – Quality and Uniqueness of the Content = sites rank well if they have content that users consider relevant and original, not rehashed or using content used by hundred other websites (e.g. articles in article submission directories)

      – Keyword density = number of times the keyword appears on the site. This also includes having the keywords in important places such as the title, metatags, even H1s and H2s

      – How it fares in the results = when it comes up in the search engines, are people clicking on it or not. If not, search engines consider the site to be not relevant to the keyword. Also, how long does the user stay on the site; if they hit the back button immediately, then the site may not be relevant to the search term

      – Site structure = on-page factors to sitemaps

      – Backlinks = who are linking to the site and what are their quality (the more authoritative the site linking to your site, the better).

If you are going to read only one piece on search engine optimization, I suggest you read Brett Tabke of WebmasterWorld.com’s “Successful Site in 12 Months with Google Alone: 26 steps to 15k a day.” http://www.webmasterworld.com/forum3/2010.htm

WebmasterWorld.com http://www.webmasterworld.com has different sections that cover various aspects of search engine optimization, and each section is participated in by respected webmasters and even search engine employees (e.g. there’s a GoogleGuy that responds to Google topics)

Other resources that can help you get top ranking in the search engines are:

      Google Press Releases http://googlepress.blogspot.com/
Matt Cutts Blog http://www.mattcutts.com/blog/ (Matt is a Google software engineer)
      Digitalpoint Yahoo Forums http://forums.digitalpoint.com/forumdisplay.php?f=6

Search Engine Optimization? Can some one tell me the steps to go about making your website SEO enabled and does this really increase traffic to your website

    View Comment
    1. Reply

Your website can be more or less search engine friendly. It is not like a switch that you “enable”. If you improve the search engine friendliness of your website, there will be an improvement in rankings, however you may or may not see a difference in traffic. If you end up on page 1 of Google for a keyword that no one looks up you should not expect a lot of traffic. If you are on page 3 or beyond for a search term that is looked up a lot, you should not expect a lot of traffic either.

The problem is that optimizing your website is only one part of SEO. You must also get other websites that are relevant to your website to link to you. So if you sell car parts, you want a website about cars, or parts or both to link to you, preferably using the words “car parts” in the link. These sort of links are in fact more important than any work you will do on your website. But both elements combined are what will really get you results.

To attract links however, you must reach out to those relevant blogs, websites and have content on your website that is worth linking to.

Here are a few steps you can take to optimize your website itself:

1.) Look at your tags. Try to best describe the content of each page using the title tag, without going over 70 characters. Make each title unique.</p> <p>2.) Think your website as a different pages – not one website. Try to optimize each page for a group of keywords. So one page could be all about windshield wipers, while another could be all about headlights. </p> <p>3.) Look at the way you link to your pages. Use words that describe what is on the page to link to it. So when you link to your page about windshield wipers, use those words to link to the page.</p> <p>4.) Create quality content. Give visitors value and they will repay you with links.</p> <p>5.) Don’t use images or Flash to display text. Always keep text in html format.</p> <p>See here for more information about on-page ranking factors: <a href="http://www.seomoz.org/article/search-ranking-factors" rel="nofollow">http://www.seomoz.org/article/search-ranking-factors</a>

First, be sure you submit your individual pages to the big 3 search engines so they know the pages exist.

You should also set up an account on Technorati, and ping your blogs there whenever you have a new post. (You can learn all about that when you sign up.) Submitting your blog to Google Blog Search and IceRocket would be good ideas as well.

Once you’ve done that, start getting other sites to link to your site, using your keywords as anchor text on the links. When search engines check those other pages, and find links to you with that keyword attached, it will improve your rankings for those specific phrases.

Hope that helps – good luck!
