The Best Strategies For Optimizing Your Website For Search Engines

Baseball Bats

If you want your online business to be successful, one the most important things that you have to do is to optimize your website for search engines. When a web user use a search engine to find information, he relies on it to deliver to him the most relevant websites based on his search terms. If you want your website to be positioned highly in the search results, your website will need to be optimized for those keywords. This article will explain to you how that can be done.

Baseball Gloves

Your website should have content that is targeted to a specific audience. You know your business best, so you should know what words people would usually use if they want to find information about your type of business. These are your website’s keywords, and these keywords should be used strategically in your content. >

Your content should be high-quality and unique. It should never be something that is copied from another website because search engines will detect that as duplicate content, and your website can be penalized for it. The penalty can be a demotion of your site’s rank or even a delisting from the web. You can certainly use other content as a source for your original writing. Just do not copy something word for word. Plagiarism hurts your website and your business reputation.

Engines

Search engines can only read text. Therefore, your website’s content should consist mainly of text. You can certainly add images and graphics, but they should add visual value for your site visitors. From the search engines’ point of view, they will not see those images. What you will need to do is to add relevant keywords to the image tags’ ALT attribute to make these images visible to search engines.

Google

Avoid using Flash to create your content. Although you can insert text into your Flash object, and text is viewable by your site visitors, this Flash content is not viewable by search engines. Websites that are mainly created from Flash have very poor ranking. The only way to add some search engine relevance is by putting some keywords in to the web page’s title and description meta tags.

Meta Description Tag

The title tag on each page should be unique. It should be a label of what that particular page is all about. Search engines put more weight on the title and description tags, so you should use your most relevant keywords here.

Optimization Strategies

When deciding what keywords to use, you can browse through other websites in your industry to get ideas. Read industry journals. Visit online forums that your target audience participate in and see what kinds of topics are discussed. These topics are indications of issues that are important to your audience, and you should make use of them as your key words and phrases.

Search

Try some of these tips when you optimize your website. Monitor how your site rank improves and refine your approach if necessary. After you do this for a while, you will come up with a winning combination of SEO techniques.

How Much Should Seo Specialist With 3 Years Experience In Usa Get Paid? How much should a seo specialist with 3 year experience get paid in North America?

SEO does have a bright future for you if you have that great analytic skill. You need that skill for researching a lot to shape a strategy that can beat tough competition in Google and Yahoo. Apart from that, you must also have good writing skills because it will provide you an edge over others. This is a profession that you can practice while working for a company or as a solo practitioner. But you can make more money if you are a solo practitioner. Almost all freelance sites have sections for SEO services. You can try that and be a freelance SEO practitioner.

How Do I Get My Websight To Pull Up Under Search Engines? I created my websight and it is able to be searched through various search engines, but the title comes up “index of//” instead of the websight title. What do I do to get it to come up as the title?

In your coding you need to change the title of the pages. You also need to have keywords designated for the site. You must submit your site to the search engines manually or pay someone to do it for you. The “index of” is a basic listing. It can become very complicated to have your site get up high in the numbers and be a top 10 position. You can also get software that will submit your website to the search engines. It can become very costly. I do this for my clients all day long.

Search engines are complex piece of software. To be able to know about a page, you’re right, it has to discover it. This can be done in many ways:
      – see a link from another page
      – by watching logs from proxy servers
      – by using logs if users are using the search engine toolbar

Now, for the indexing (the part where the keywords are extracted), there is 2 main places:
      – the page itself
      – the pages that are linking to this page

In the page itself, many things may be used:
      – the title of the page
      – the meta fields (keywords, content, etc.)
      – the body of the page (all keywords, in forms, etc.)

      In other pages:
      – the text that has been used to link to the page (that’s the big thing that Google has introduced in the search engine market with their page rank)

Gave you some links to learn more, don’t be shy to use search engines to learn more on them!

What Is Search Engine Optimisation? What is search engine optimisation?

    View Comment

Search engine optimization (SEO) is the process of improving the volume and quality of traffic to a web site from search engines via “natural” (“organic” or “algorithmic”) search results. Usually, the earlier a site is presented in the search results, or the higher it “ranks”, the more searchers will visit that site. SEO can also target different kinds of search, including image search, local search, and industry-specific vertical search engines.

As a marketing strategy for increasing a site’s relevance, SEO considers how search algorithms work and what people search for. SEO efforts may involve a site’s coding, presentation, and structure, as well as fixing problems that could prevent search engine indexing programs from fully spidering a site. Other, more noticeable efforts may include adding unique content to a site, ensuring that content is easily indexed by search engine robots, and making the site more appealing to users. Another class of techniques, known as “Black Hat” SEO or spamdexing, use methods such as link farms and keyword stuffing that tend to harm search engine user experience. Search engines look for sites that employ these techniques and may remove their listings.

Directory Style Search Engine? What is Directory style search engine

    View Comment
    1. Reply

      Hi Caz…

There are two main types of search engine… Directory based and Key Word driven.

Directory search engines are the likes of http://www.Yell.com, http://www.BT.com/thephonebook, http://www.thomsonlocal.com, along with home pages of most broadband service providers like Tiscali etc. This is where people can search for a business or service in a certain area; eg: Who, What, Where search like ‘Builders’ in ‘Birmingham’ They are ‘powered’ by the databases of BT and Thomson Local.

Key word searches bring results of more specific ‘phrase’ enquiries. The results of a ‘key word’ search are list or database of Websites who’s content and preferred keywords have been checked by the engine’s ‘spiders’ and stored on the database, and shown only if the website content has relevence to the search word or phrase you have entered. Google, Yahoo etc are examples.

You can normally tell if it is a Directory style search as there will normally have two or three boxes to put the info, eg Business Name (Who); Business Type (What); Town or Postcode (Where). Key word search generally only have one box to enter your question or keywords.

Hope that is not too ‘techie’ and answers your question for you.

What Is User Driven Search Engine? Wikipedia founder Jimmy Wales is planning to launch a user driven search engine, Wikiasari …..what is that ??? and how that is different approach from the technique developed by google to do the searches???

User Driven search engine is unique in that it provides a user driven search focused on Specific topic(say XYZ). As more and more people use the search engine to find that particular topic i.e. XYZ, the search engine learns from their behaviors such as click patterns and modifies future searches to provide more relevant and personalized results. The outcome of this personalized search is better and better results such as the most relevant pages move to the top of the search results and the least relevant pages, to include SPAM pages, move to the bottom.

The google search engine is much more complex than the USER DRIVEN Search Engine..

Search engine optimization and submission has major difference, optimization means u r going to optimize your website to get good ranking in various search engine result. in optimization process u have to add meta tag, description, and keyword in right form and also write unique and quality content for your webpages.its call on page seo, and in off page seo now u have to submit your website link in other web directory, submit press release, submit article, add url to various search engine, that call off page seo and search engine submission.

Search engine optimization (SEO) is the process of improving the visibility of a website or a web page in a search engine’s search results. SEO may target different kinds of search, including image search, local search, video search, academic search, news search and industry-specific vertical search engines.

As an Internet marketing strategy, SEO considers how search engines work, what people search for, the actual search terms or keywords typed into search engines and which search engines are preferred by their targeted audience. Optimizing a website may involve editing its content and HTML and associated coding to both increase its relevance to specific keywords and to remove barriers to the indexing activities of search engines. Promoting a site to increase the number of backlinks, or inbound links, is another SEO tactic.

How To Choose Search Engine Professional Optimization Firm? Need to hire a search engine professional optimization firm can anyone recommend tips to avoid getting burnt?

Ask any candidate SEO firm a simple question:

Show me one of your client’s site which can be found using “generic” keywords [not a domain name] as a search query on google.com or yahoo.com search engines and limit the generic keyword query to no more than 4 words. The search result must show that the website is PageRanked within the top 15 search results.

If your candidate SEO firm says that cannot be done. Then perhaps consider spending $20 on Peter Kent’s “Search Engine Optimization for Dummies.. which provides sufficient expert strategies to elevate your website to a greater audience on major search engines.

      Good luck!

A search engine is a site where you type in whatever you want to look for, and it will come up with sites that fit with your search description (search results). 2 well known ones are Google (www.google.com) and Yahoo (www.yahoo.com). To implement a search engine into your site, you will need to look for it on the Search Engine’s homepage for the HTML code.
