Search Engine Optimization Methods To Improve Your Website

Business Focus

Search engine optimization techniques will help you improve your ranking in search results. You should read the following article for some helpful search engine optimization tips.

Core Words

It is best to avoid unethical search engine optimization techniques. Some webmasters use techniques known as Black Hat SEO to improve their ranking quickly, for instance by placing hidden keywords on their pages or using link farms to create back-links. You might get good results from these methods on the short term but remember that search engines will notice if you do not use ethical methods and will ban your pages from search results. >

Keep in mind that the content of your website is just as important as your search engine optimization campaign. If you cannot provide your readers with quality content, they will not read through your website regardless of how efficient your search engine optimization campaign is. Take the time to update your website regularly and do your best to create quality content. You should never put SEO first and change the way you write to include more keywords in your articles.

Engine

Do not overuse keywords on your website. A high percentage of keywords in your content will lower its quality and some search engine spiders will actually consider that your content was written for SEO purposes. Place your keywords smartly by using tags to describe your content. You can for instance describe an article by placing strong keywords in a title tags. Describe an entire page by placing keywords in your header or in your meta tags and meta description.

Header Section

Create a website that is easy to navigate. A simple design will help human visitors focus on your content and search engine spiders will be able to analyze your content more easily. Create clean HTML pages and check them with the W3C website to make sure you did not make any mistakes. Organize your website so your content is easy to find. You should create some site-wide links for your main pages and some individual links within each article to help readers find more similar pages.

Page Rank

Back-links are necessary to bring more traffic to your website. You should always look for ways to create new back-links since your links will eventually stop bringing traffic to your site. Avoid creating links that look like spam or that will not be noticed by the kind of visitors you want to attract. You can create quality back-links by using article directories, message boards or even buying ad space on sites your target audience visits. Try creating partnerships with other webmasters or getting your content featured in online publications. Use a visitor tracker to find where your visitors come from and get an idea of which back-links bring the most traffic to your website.

Rank Changes

Use these search engine optimization techniques to improve your website and get your content indexed in search results. Stay up to date with new search engine optimization strategies and make some changes to your campaign on a regular basis.

It’s great to read that someone at least knows the ‘ins’ and ‘outs’, isn’t it? Amongst our readers, this article really turned the tide on the debate that was taking place.

Typically if there few a few links to your site from other sites already indexed by the search engines, their spiders will ‘discover’ your site while following those links, probably getting you added to their search results without even submitting the site.

You will have to read up on SEO.

Google has a booklet covering ‘onsite’ optimization of your site to make it easy for search engines to examine it:
      http://www.google.com/webmasters/docs/search-engine-optimization-starter-guide.pdf

The term optimization is misused to also represent the various ‘off site’ methods used to game the popularity vote system by getting links back from other sites.

You could be in the search results, but back on page 10 where virtually no one looks.

There are tools that will report your search result position for various search keywords:
Use either the free rankchecker for firefox http://tools.seobook.com/firefox/rank-checker/ or the rankcheker in the free evaluation version of SEO Powersuit http://www.link-assistant.com/rank-tracker/ to generate a search ranking report for the list of keywords, the latter has some other analysis functions.

Typically you would want to identify the search keywords you would like to rank for, small sites have a better chance of showing up for lower search volume, less competitive terms. Rather than attempting to rank for: Dog Training, one might target: Clicker and Reward Dog Training.

One has to be realistic, if some search phrase gets a million results, does your site really deserve to be one of the top 10 results on page #1. Targeting those searches with fewer results improves your chances of being seen.

The free Google Keyword tool can help you find real world searches for terms related to your site’s theme.

Writing a separate article featuring a different keyword is a common practice, you only want to mention it a few times in the whole page, but if you stay on topic the search engines will recognize some related phrases as well. Ideally you would have several backlinks to that article, with a small percentage of them using anchor text resembling the keyword. (The new Penguin filter is one the lookout for excessive keyword use or unnatural percentages of anchor text links)

Can Anyone Help With Search Engine Optimisation For My Website? I have tried good analytics but i am still not getting good search results? i need a very basic step, by step procedure, something that is easy to understand. my website is http://www.dirtyangelwebdesign.com.au, please help!!!

There are several things you can do to try to get the best position in search results. The most important are:

      – Create a good website with good content
      – Use good web addresses for your web pages
      – Get linked from other websites
      – Buy legitimate advertising

It is not possible to control the behaviour of search engines so anybody who thinks they can guarantee top search results is mistaken. There are some good Search Engine Optimisation (SEO) services available but they will do little more than is described here, although they will use the benefit of their experience and detailed knowledge. Anything beyond that should probably be avoided.

So the most obvious question is: what makes a good website for a top search result? However you should not overlook the less obvious, but equally important, question: what searches do I want to find me?

You really need to look at the second question first: what sort of searches should find your website? To answer this, try to imagine the type of people you want to find your website and when you would want them to find it. Then try to imagine what sorts of searches those people would be doing at that time, and make sure your website is a good target for those searches.

http://www.350.com offer a great SEO analysis package, you should take a look at what they can offer you.

You should have a short and long term marketing goal for your website.
Short term must be immediate traffic and long term must focus on search engine optimization.

Immediate traffic is achieved by activity in forums and writing articles about your services/products. Your articles must obviously be of high quality and optimized with the necessary keywords which will attract readers. If your articles are very good then other webmasters may link to them creating extra traffic and backlinks to your website. Going back to the forums, you should be active in forums which are related to your website. Make sure to insert links to your site wherever possible without making it look spammy. These links also create backlinks to your website which again help your PR.

Search engine optimization, or in short SEO, is a very competitive but huge market. I wouldn’t suggest you to take this course for the sake of part-time income unless you have a huge passion and interest in internet marketing.

If you are still interested to learn SEO, you don’t have to pay huge amount of tuition fee. You can start learning them online at SEOMoz, which provides useful SEO tips and tutorials. When you have the fundamental knowledge, then it is time to get practical and start building your own sites, and working to rank your keywords.

What’s The Best Form Of Search Engine Optimization? Does any one have any tips on this matter?

    View Comment
    1. Reply

The most effective way to advertise on the Internet is
to first set up a website and publish its domain name
on major search directories such as Google.com,
      Yahoo.com [at http://www.google.com/addurl/?…… and
MSN.com since 85% of Internet shoppers rely on these
search directories to provide them with goods and
services. In a sense, these search directories are a
      very large Internet Yellow Pages.

Nevertheless, should your website or opening webpage
fail to contain “generic” keywords, then anyone using
such “generic” queries will not be able to discover
your website. Your domain name [URL] of your website,
in a sense, will be invisible, undiscoverable.

You may want to consider some simple algorithms which,
when observed and committed in designing of a website
with placement of various critical metatags that can
surely achieve a high search engine presence and
increase Internet traffic to your website. These
metatag strategies work well with published webpages
      at Google and Yahoo.

Design: Should you create an extensive Flash-based
website, make sure to fill-in the property entries
such as the Title, Description and Keywords. Failing
to do so, leaves no hard HTML or ALT resource that can
be readily indexed by search robots. Also consider the
Internet audience and their incoming setup. For
example, if they are on analog/dialup, Flash webpages
take too long to load up and therefore analog users
will likely lose interest and discontinue entering the
Flash site. On the other hand, anyone on hi-speed DSL
lines, will welcome Flash pages which load quickly. So
before designing a pure Flash websitge, ask the simple
question, “Who’s my end user – is he on dialup or
DSL?” And if you had to choose between these two users
for maximum marketability, then select analog users
since 80% of most resident users are still analog
Internet subscribers and pure HTML designed webpages
      is best for them.

A non-Flash-based website which relies on hard text,
is far easier to be indexed by search robots. Limit
the use of stylized text saved as .gifs since as a
graphic, they are not indexable by search robots.

Avoid use of frames since any number of search robots
are unable to properly classify textual material.

      Placement of Metatags:

A ranking or search order does take place with Google
and Yahoo and it begins with the “Title” metag which
should consist of no more than 65 characters separated
by commas. The “Title” should describe in generic
terms, the goods and services, followed by a location
from which the resource is located, i.e., city, state.
The placement of a domain name which is not generic
within the “Title” is not appropriate, unless your
domain name is a major recognizable brand name.

The second metatag is the “Description” which is
usually 41 words to form a complete sentence which
best describes one’s goods and services.

And the very last category – “Keywords” are also
somewhat limited to 15-16 words which can be plural
and compound in nature. Again, avoid multiple entries
which could be mistaken as “spamdexed entries” which
is defined as the loading, and submission of
repetitive words into a particular metatag category.
“Spamdexing” when discovered on a webpage and reported
to Google’s spamreport.com can result in the
elimination of your website from their search
      directory.

      Good luck!
