Common Search Engine Optimization Mistakes

Engine

If you are not getting good results from your search engine optimization campaign, you should consider using different methods. Take a few minutes to review the following article and learn more about the common search engine optimization mistakes you need to avoid.

Niche

Placing too many keywords on your website is not a good way to optimize your content. Readers will notice that you are creating content for search engine optimization purposes and probably stop reading right away. Search engine spiders will consider your content as being of low quality if they detect a high keyword density. It is best to use your keywords within HTML tags to describe your different elements. >

Do not choose keywords that you would use to describe your products. Find out which words your visitors are likely to use to refer to the topic of your websites. Your visitors might for instance not use the same technical terms you would look up. You can get a better idea of which keywords are popular by checking Google AdWords and other similar sites regularly.

No Doubt

An XML sitemap can help search engine spiders find all your pages but you will get better results if your site is properly organized. Do not expect much from your XML sitemap if all your pages are not properly connected together. Ideally, you should have site-wide links organized in a menu for all your important pages and plenty of individual links connecting your pages together.

Proper Keywords

Do not assume that the organization of your site is good enough once you have created a strong structure. You need to constantly improve this structure as you add more content to your site. Every time you create a new article, go over old similar texts and add links to your new articles. If you have a lot of old articles, create a detailed archive to organize them properly.

Quality Content

Never stop looking for new ways to get more back-links. Typically, a back-link will keep bringing traffic to your site for a couple of months or even less. You need to keep bringing traffic to your site by creating new links. You can keep your old links active by sharing back-links to the pages where your links are featured but you should also look for new ways to create quality back-links.

Search

Do not use Black Hat search engine optimization techniques to optimize your website. These techniques can be tempting but they are not worth taking the risk of having all your pages disappear from search engines. Black Hat SEO methods include using link farms to get more back-links, keyword stuffing or false redirection URLs. It is best to do plenty of research on the methods you want to use to make sure they are ethical and accepted by search engines.

Search Engine Spiders - Optimization Mistakes

If any of these mistakes sound familiar to you, it is time to make some changes to your search engine optimization campaign. Do more research on the efficient and ethical strategies you can use to optimize your content so you can improve your campaign.

How to Advertise your Business Website
      ================= ================= =================
      1. The fact is that best of the traffic comes from search engines directly by searching your business related terms, so the most important part of your advertisement must be getting listed in search engines. But remember only major search engines, don’t bother about submitting in 350,000 search engines as 99% searches are made in top 3 search engines only and 60% in Google only. Also if you waste your time submitting your content in many search engines, it may depress your favourability in top search engines.
(Best way to automatically include your stuff is using directories, see step 2)( See resources list ).

      2. List your products or websites in relevant directories in most relevant category. Directories are good source of traffic as well as they increase the visibility of your website for top search engines. But again don’t bother to submit your websites to 1000s of directories and don’t use any service ( free or paid ) or any software which does the same thing. ( See resources list ).

      3. Use Pay Per Click advertising. It is best hassle free way to get traffic but not for beginners. An expert draws maximum CUSTOMERS out of low budget while newbies may waste a lot of money for generating TRAFFIC only which doesn’t make any good to your business. Before trying PPC make your you have done enough “Keyword Analysis” Search Google for Adwords Keyword Analysis. ( See resources list ).Google’s Adwords and Yahoo’s Search Engine Marketing & MSN’s Adcenter are best programs. Search for Discount coupons if you find none for free contact me.( See resources list ).

      4. Purchase paid reviews, It improves both Traffic & Search Engine ranks. It almost boost your search engine rankings. ( See resources list ).

      5. Submit your business in free classifieds like Craigslist. ( See resources list ).

      6. Hire an SEO ( Search Engine Optimization ) expert or learn by yourself how to optimize your website to get better ranking in search results for your business related terms. getting into first page is necessary as 90% of searchers don’t go beyond first page, and 70% don’t go beyond first five results.

      7. Make your business a brand. Use catchy graphics fast loading pages, beautiful banners. let your visitor feel to bookmark your website so that he may come ( or probably purchase later )

      8. Use Social bookmarking websites to spread your articles. periodically write useful and fresh articles and make them popular in interested people. it will improve all brand, traffic, customers and search engine positions. ( See resources list ).

      9. Last but not the least. Never try black hat methods you will get black listed and will loose potential search traffic instantaneously. Never try anything which says improve your search engine rank very fast or very high. remember always that anything which seems too good to be true is never true.

What Do You Charge For Search Engine Optimization? What do you charge for search engine optimization? For pay per click advertising and maintenance? How about blog set up and promotion?

I typically charge $150/hour for SEO services that include on-page optimization, link building, and linkbait strategizing. I don’t engage in any of the bogus search engine submissions, though.

For PPC, I charge the same rate for setup, along with a monthly fee equal to 20% of the PPC spending

Blog setup and promotion are also billed at the $150/hour rate.

Search engine optimization (SEO), a subset of search engine marketing, is the process of improving the volume and quality of traffic to a web site from search engines via “natural” (“organic” or “algorithmic”) search results. Usually, the earlier a site is presented in the search results, or the higher it “ranks,” the more searchers will visit that site. SEO can also target different kinds of search, including image search, local search, and industry-specific vertical search engines.

A typical Search Engine Results Page (SERP)As a marketing strategy for increasing a site’s relevancy, SEO considers how search algorithms work and what people search for. SEO efforts may involve a site’s coding, presentation, and structure, as well as fixing problems that could prevent search engine indexing programs from fully spidering a site. Other, more noticeable efforts may include adding unique content to a site, and making sure that the content is easily indexed by search engines and also appeals to human visitors.

The term SEO can also refer to “search engine optimizers,” a term adopted by an industry of consultants who carry out optimization projects on behalf of clients, and by employees who perform SEO services in-house. Search engine optimizers may offer SEO as a stand-alone service or as a part of a broader marketing campaign. Because effective SEO may require changes to the HTML source code of a site, SEO tactics may be incorporated into web site development and design. The term “search engine friendly” may be used to describe web site designs, menus, content management systems and shopping carts that are easy to optimize.

What Is SEO Or Search Engine Optimization? How To Do SEO?

SEO (Search Engine Optimization) techniques can either be organic or paid. Paid (PPC) can be useful in identifying the keywords you should target for your SEO campaign, however, many small companies cannot afford these types of PPC campaigns. Organic SEO involves optimizing on-site SEO by first identifying your target keywords and long-tail keywords. A long-tail keyword phrase is the best technique for small businesses because there is usually less competition for these keywords, and it is rare for someone to enter just one word into a search engine search bar. Examples of long-tail keywords are: “Organic butter from Lancaster PA”, or “Organic Pick your own berry farms in PA”, whereas regular keywords are “Organic butter”, “butter”, “Berries”.
You will want to target low to medium competition keywords with medium to high search volume. You can also try GEO-SEO which is using your geographic location to target customers, which might be useful for a small store trying to attract local customers.

Here is what you should target for SEO:

-Use your keywords that are relevant to each pages content in your title tags,

      tags, and meta-description tags.
-Make sure to use alt=”” attribute in your image html (search engine spiders can’t see your images, so help yourself by helping them and use the alt=”” attribute.
-The higher your content is on the page (above the fold), the more value it will impart.
-Link to other pages (deep pages) within your own website.
-Link to others in your industry (relevant)
-Make sure you have a call to action on any pages that you would want to place “contact us at”.
This is your big neon sign that screams “Get Yours Here!”

Off-site SEO involves building back-links to your website from other sites that have high authority, are popular, are a valuable resource in their industry (your industry).

I go into this in great detail on my website blog and I recently answered a question on back-links for Yahoo! if you would like to know more 8)

What Is Search Engine Optimization (SEO)? How It Is Done?

    View Comment
    1. Reply

SEO (Search Engine Optimization) is a method to increase your ‘page ranking’ so that your website appears at the top of search engine lists when users search for specific keywords.

There are many aspects to this and it is more of an art than a science.
Some important things to consider for SEO (in order of importance)

      1.Domain name
These should contain key words if possible. e.g. if I were selling flowers I'd want something like:
      http://www.buy-london-flowers.com or http://www.online-flowers-delivery.com
This is the single biggest factor in SEO and it really helps to have keywords contained within your domain name.
      2.Standards compliant Markup
If your website is standards compliant (http://www.w3.org/) then search engines will be able to read the code more efficiently.
      3.Incoming links
Your page ranking increases depending on the amount and quality of websites that link to yours.
Quality is very important, if nefarious sites (such as paid referral sites etc) link to your website then the opposite effect occurs and your page ranking decreases.
There are some well known directories where you can 'post' your business website. The best directories are stringently maintained and well regarded with search engines.
However, it can be difficult and time-consuming to get your website accepted by them.
http://www.dmoz.org/ is probably one of the most well known and best regarded directories.
There are plenty of quick and free directories available, although you should be very careful which directories you submit to.
      4.Page titles
Pretty self explanatory. Use different titles for every different page.
      Use keywords within your titles.
      5.Placement of content within code
Search engines judge content to be more important the higher up it is within the website code.
View the source code of your site, is the 'main content' near the top of the code or the bottom?
If it is near the bottom then it is badly designed and will negatively impact your SEO.
      6.Use of correct semantic markup
In HTML certain tags (when used correctly) can give content more 'weight' and can benefit your SEO.
      e.g.

      Plant Machinery Sales

      = Content header
(There are of course many different tags)
      7.META Tags
Meta tags are now depreciated, most search engines ignore them completely and they have no effect whatsoever on your page ranking.
Some smaller search engines however do still use them, so it's best to include standards compliant meta tags just in case.

There are of course many other aspects to SEO but that is a very brief overview.

You can also set up 'paid' search engine links such as Google Adwords (www.google.co.uk/adwords) and Microsoft AdCenter (https://adcenter.microsoft.com/) although these can get expensive.

      Localization
For advertising in different countries the same SEO tips apply (see above)
Also to take into consideration are:
      1.Localized domain names.
e.g. http://www.flowers.co.uk - ranked higher on UK search engines
http://www.flowers.ru - ranked higher on russian search engines
      2.Location of website servers
e.g. a UK IP address will be listed on google.co.uk and a russian IP address will be listed on google.ru
      3.Website content Language
English ranked higher on UK websites, Russian ranked higher on Russian websites.

      Phew!
      I hope this helps ?

Search engine optimization (SEO) is the process of improving the visibility of a website or a web page in a search engine’s search results. SEO may target different kinds of search, including image search, local search, video search, academic search, news search and industry-specific vertical search engines.

As an Internet marketing strategy, SEO considers how search engines work, what people search for, the actual search terms or keywords typed into search engines and which search engines are preferred by their targeted audience. Optimizing a website may involve editing its content and HTML and associated coding to both increase its relevance to specific keywords and to remove barriers to the indexing activities of search engines. Promoting a site to increase the number of backlinks, or inbound links, is another SEO tactic.

Search engine optimization (SEO also search optimization) is the process of editing and organizing the content on a webpage or across a website to increase its potential relevance to specific keywords on specific search engines and importantly ensuring that external links to the site are correctly titled and in abundance. This is done with the aim of achieving a higher organic search listing and thus increasing the volume of targeted traffic from search engines.

SEO is one of the key Web Marketing activities and can target different kinds of searches, including image search, local search, and industry-specific vertical search engines.

SEO considers how search engines work and what people search for. Optimizing a website primarily involves editing its content and HTML coding to both increase its relevance to specific keywords and to remove barriers to the indexing activities of search engines. Sometimes a site’s structure (the relationships between its content) must be altered too. Because of this it is, from a client’s perspective, always better to incorporate Search Engine Optimization when a website is being developed than to try and retroactively apply it.

Search engines look for sites that employ these techniques and may remove their listings.
