Bob Russell is the epitome of the “never give up” attitude.
Man Reunited With Stolen Car After 42 Years
Bob, who now lives in Texas, would just never give up on that car. He would occasionally surf the Internet to look for the car and, believe it or not, finally spotted it on eBay! It had been posted by a dealer in California, and the vehicle identification numbers matched what Bob had on record. The dealer said he bought it from a man who claimed it had been in his family since 1970 (when it was originally stolen).
Bob proceeded to haggle with the dealer—who wanted to sell the car back to him for $24,000. Bob would have none of that and contacted Philadelphia and Los Angeles police, who managed to unearth the original stolen car report. The Law Enforcement agencies impounded the car and Mr. Russell traveled to Los Angeles to take back his beloved car. Bob says he now plans to restore his prized car, which was stolen the morning after he used it to take his future wife out on their second date.
“It still runs, but the brakes don’t work well,” he says. “We’re going to put it back the way it was.”
