Why Is There Such A Social Stigma Associated With Eating …

Comment on Happy Cat Herder’s Day! by Eugene K..

Why Is There Such A Social Stigma Associated With Eating Cats In This Country? I realize that there are different cultures (and not all people have a problem with this, just the hypocrites), but why does society view certain animals as ok to eat, then consider you a monster or terrible person for eating others? Cats, dogs, horses, etc… you are disgusting and dishonorable for eating them; but cows, pigs, chickens: to hell with them, eat as much as you want. There have even been some laws passed recently banning slaughter houses from processing horse meat and some other animals. Makes no sense, there are people here from other countries that eat these animals. Is seems that we would rather just let them go to waste. Is it because they are cute? Some people won’t eat rabbits because they are cute and fluffy, but some will. Because some are popular house pets? I haven’t tasted most of these animals, but they could be delicious for as much as I know, and I wouldn’t be opposed to eating them. All the cats and dogs in animal shelters that get killed and wasted because nobody wants them, could possibly be a food source for someone. Please no stupid vegan/vegetarian answers, not looking for religious answers either, please no Asian jokes or jokes about eating pussy. It’s possible that eating stray dogs and cats might be part of a solution for feeding some of the hungry in this country, as well as controlling the animal population. And if society eventually deemed it acceptable and developed a taste for some of these animals: it could start and stimulate new farming communities. More job opportunities (makes me think of that banned super bowl commercial a few yrs ago with the cat herders). Any thoughts (that aren’t just stupid and/or mean, smart-ass comments. I enjoy humor, and the possibilities for funny jokes on this subject are endless, but I predict that the jokes posted will be childish and annoying)? Thanks for your input.
