Media Accounts

There is no reason to put a huge amount of effort into designing, maintaining and then posting to a blog if no one actually reads what you write. Instead, you have to put your effort into marketing your blog so that new readers will visit and you’ll end up with people who truly appreciate what you have to say. No matter what the topic of your blog, the following ideas will help you to grow your readership.

Accounts

If you really want to get the word out about your blog, hold a giveaway for an item anyone would love, such as cash. You can use a tool like Rafflecopter to make entering the giveaway easy. Use entry methods such as following you on social media, commenting on a post on your site, signing up for your newsletter or even signing up for your RSS feed on Feedburner. This will increase your follower count, but remember that you really want to focus on people who would also actually want to read your site, otherwise when the contest ends, they will all unsubcribe. If you want more targeted subscribers, give away a prize that only fans of your niche would like, such as an ebook if you are a site about books, or environmentally friendly cleaning supplies if you write about the “green” lifestyle.

Banner AdBloggings

Ask your loved ones, coworkers and even followers on social media to let others know about your blog. They can share your posts on their own social media accounts, or by email, or even in person. Don’t be overt about it, of course, but you can provide social media links on your blog posts, such as with tools like AddThis, and let people share if they feel like it. You can also ask in a post that those who follow you let others know about the blog if they think they would enjoy it as well.

Blogger

Visit blogs like your own and join in the conversations there. Leave comments and use tools like “Comment Luv” to link back to your own blog. Once you find a blog you really connect with, ask to trade “guests posts” with them. You can add a little “author bio” to the top or bottom of your traded post, involving a link to your own blog. They do the same, so your audience can find this other great blog and their audience can come over to your site. This will also provide back links between the two sites, boosting each other’s page rank on Google. This can make your site show up higher for any search engine optimization key phrases you have included on your site.

Business Purposes

When you created your blog, it is likely that your intent was to get what you want to write about out to the masses. If it wasn’t, why do you bother? If it was, you have to use the tips above to ensure that people know your blog exists and what it is all about. Take the time to work on your blog and soon enough, people will show up to read.

What Are The Benefits And Dangers Surrounding Social Media? I’m currently (as in RIGHT NOW) teaching a class on Social Media and both its benefits and downfalls. Any and all provided would be greatly appreciated!

      What’s Good:

Low hard costs compared to traditional marketing like print, television, outdoor, etc.

Quick, honest, and detailed feedback from the customer.

Allows for deeper engagements with customers.

Similar to great brand marketing and customer service, the benefits of doing social media right can last for years.

Every customer and employee is a potential media outlet: social media is word of mouth on digital steroids.

In the past, companies that had the most money to spend on marketing often won, today it’s the company that produces great products and experiences for their customers.

Social media takes time and effort. Many companies aren’t willing to do this, hence those companies that put forth the extra effort will stand out.

If you are a progressive company you can use these tools to effectively recruit new talent.

      What’s Bad:

Often, many benefits of social media are seen in the months to come rather than immediately. It shouldn’t be viewed like Google AdWords, which has a quick return. It should be viewed more like brand marketing and good customer service, which pays off in the future.

Tools can quickly change; one day it is MySpace, Orkut, Friendster, and Bebo; the next day it’s Facebook and Mixi.

There are a lot of hidden soft costs: it takes time to develop relationships with customers. In the offline world, developing relationships takes time and effort - the same holds true within social media.

May reduce the amount of face-to-face communication we have with one another, diminishing on interpersonal communication skills.

If the customer feels they haven’t been treated appropriately, they have powerful tools at their disposal (YouTube, Twitter, etc.) to express their side of the story and negatively impact a brand reputation.

Often we turn over our brand ownership to employees and customers and they can take us places we don’t want to go.

Should Local Councils Make Use Of Social Media? I think local councils should make great use of social media like facebook or twitter to reach their community where they can organise and share events. It’s currently very hard to know which council is organising any sort of events, especially when you’re on the go and want to check on your phone… Does anyone know any app that does this?

I think so. Because social media is about interaction, it would be a good practice to let the people know what is happening and what they can look forward to. There isn’t enough interaction between the people and politics (at any level) and social media bridges that gap.

Social media is incredibly important…and incredibly time consuming. Many small business owners must choose between properly promoting their companies on Facebook and Twitter or actually running their companies. The solution is to delegate some of the social media work to an employee or outside consultant. This person in charge of the social media presence of a company is called the social media representative.

You can read more about this function here.

What Is The Overall Aims For Social Media In Business ? Why Social Media in Business Interest You ? What You Will Gain?

Why would you pick Social Media in Business what is your overall aims ?

Social Media is valuable because it provides a few things that other channels don’t.

First of all, it is a massive global audience, so for many companies it allows them to reach people that were never before possible. In this sense it is also relatively low cost, which is also of a great benefit.

Second of all, social media is conversation based so it is a very different type of marketing avenue. Now, products and services are put into the hands of the customers where they are able to provide feedback and become a part of the product that they enjoy.

Third, social media marketing is built on sharing, which means that a marketing message can be carried not only to the people that it was presented to but far beyond that with social networks like YouTube, Twitter and Facebook.

Overall, social media has simply changed communication all around. Businesses use it because their customers simply demand that they do so. Social media is where there customers are, so it is where they should be.

Will Social Media Change The World? Hi so for my media A2 i’m making a documentary on the impact of social media on our lives and it would be great to get your views on it!

    1) Do you use any type of social media? e.g Facebook/twitter/tumblr/youtube

    2) How has your use of social media impacted on your life?

    3) Do you think social media is an integral part of our lives?

    4) Do you think social media has impacted culture?

    5) Has social media created a global culture? (a worldwide culture where everyone has the same values, norms and ideas on how to live) Or has it allowed us to be accepting of different cultures by making it easier to learn about them?

    Thankyou! ?

Social Media is already changing the world , as a culture and as individuals. I use Facebook and I have a Twitter account but, I don’t use it at all. I have an anonymous account where I give out Cheerleading and Dance advice.

Social Media has impacted my life because I have been Cyberbullied so because of that anytime I want to do Advice videos on YouTube I don’t because I don’t want someone to see me who I know and than start things on YouTube. So any type of accounts other than Facebook I use them discretely If I can. Because I refuse to be bullied again.

I do think Social Media is an integral part of our lives.
It has impacted our culture because now we cannot do rarely anything without some type of Technology or Social Media use. What should be considered phone calls are now Facebook Status , arguments between a couple is now becoming text messages instead of something face to face until it’s too late.

      It’s ridiculous.

How Did The Social Media Have An Effect On The Egyption Revolution ? Can social media play a rule in revolution or start a revolution ?

    View Comment
    1. Reply

Social media was definitely the platform through which the revolution in Egypt gained its momentum. However, you have to realize that it was not the cause of the revolution. For several years people unsatisfied with the past regime have been sending secret messages online about how to effectively protest, how to withstand a tear gas attack, etc.

Social media just allowed these people to attract a lot of attention very quickly. You should try thinking about it on a bigger scale. It costs BILLIONS of dollars to run for presidency in the United States. The times are over when any average joe who had a dream could successfuly enter office. Social media could once again level the playing field in politics around the world.

What Is Social Media? What are the best examples?

Andreas Kaplan and Michael Haenlein define social media as

“A group of Internet-based applications that build on the ideological and technological foundations of Web 2.0, and that allow the creation and exchange of user-generated content.

Businesses also refer to social media as user generated content (UGC)
      or consumer-generated media (CGM).

Social media is believed to be a driving force in defining this current period as the Attention Age.

A common thread running through all definitions of social media is a blending of technology and social interaction for the co-creation of value.

Social media have become the new tool for effective business marketing and sales. Popular sites include Twitter, Facebook and Myspace, and they are the social media most commonly used for socialization and connecting friends, relatives and employees.

      Common forms of social media;

concepts, slogans and statements with ahigh memory retention quotient, that excite others to repeat

Grass-Roots direct action information dissemination such as public speaking, installations, performance, and demonstrations.

Electronic media with ‘sharing,’ syndication, or search algorithm technologies (includes internet and mobile devices).

Print media, designed to be re-distributed.

Social media on the whole is social interaction that is web based.
People use social media marketing to brand their business name through social media platforms like facebook, twitter, linkedin and many other. You can use these platforms to interact with people to grow interest in what you do and establish that you are and expert in your field.

This will grow your customer base and profit margins if done correctly.

      Hope this helps

Is Their A Positive Side To Social Media? I’m doing a project on how social media affects people’s perceptions of themselves. Do you see any positive aspects of social media on people’s self-perception?

Social media mess up people in the mind a lot. You constantly see celebrities and models that are so skinny and so many young people (especially girls) are affected by it a lot. They hurt themselves in the long run and just try to be “perfect”. Also, in magazines they tell you what you should wear and what’s in style. Watching television also f**ks up you’re mind because it’s like you’re literally getting brainwashed most of the time, companies trying to sell you things and half of it doesn’t even work. I think everything about social media is negative no matter what. It doesn’t mean anything, there cannot be an ideal image of what is beautiful or what is right. It’s all in our own minds, we should choose and do what WE think is right, not let others take control of our mind.
