Gun Rights and Obamacare

Bill Clinton

A couple interesting articles from NewsMax.

First, Bill Clinton is now telling all of the anti-gun democrats and liberals to lighten up a bit. As he puts it, “A lot of these people live in a world very different from the world lived in by the people proposing these things. I know because I come from this world.” It’s one of the few things that Clinton has recently said that I can agree with 100%.

Is it real, or is it just a ploy to prepare the mid-terms for democrats by urging them to look like they’re moving toward the middle? Hmmmm…..

Anyway, reading that passage made me think about something I realized last week. I think that liberals, while they talk and talk about how gun violence is such a bad thing, and propose strange legislation that addresses the symptoms more than the cause, are in reality telling us that they basically… just – hate – guns. Why, I don’t know. Perhaps guns represent some sort of obstacle to their grander progressive agendas. Or perhaps they are just afraid of something they really don’t understand – a tool that can be used for either good or evil depending on who is using it.

Regardless of the reason, the hatred and absolute disdain of any kind of gun is quite amazing. And, it seems to be backfiring on them. Nearly all of the posts I’ve read on Facebook about regulating gun-this, or prohibiting gun-that, or even repealing the second amendment – have turned into conversations about other gun-related issues like how to get a concealed carry permit, or what gun is best for personal protection, or even the historic significance of certain gun models. Not results that relate much to the original poster’s intent, that’s for sure.

Now on to Obamacare.

Whole Foods CEO John Mackey

It seems that John Mackey, the CEO of Whole Foods, is being lambasted about some remarks he made that related Obamacare to fascism. Here is what he said,

“Technically speaking, it (ObamaCare)  is more like fascism. Socialism is where the government owns the means of production. In fascism, the government doesn’t own the means of production but they do control it. And that’s what’s happening with our health care program with these reforms.”

What I find interesting is that, in a completely academic sense, what he said is entirely accurate. He’s got his facts lined up in a row like ducks. However, most of his customers are upscale, progressive liberals (the ex-hippie generation) who take exception to any facts that might disparage their leftist agenda.

Facts mean nothing to liberals. Sad, but true.
