Anywhere that you can put your keyword is recommended. However, make sure that you don’t go over the keyword density that the search engine has set up.     What Is The Optimal Keyword Density Range?? ? I have no idea about the keyword density range, but if it is too much it will be considered as keyword spam.

    • Keyword density is not a defined standardized value that can ensure a website's high page rank. Different search engines account for different range of values of keyword density. Optimal keyword density of a website for Google is usually 2%. Yahoo and MSN however allow higher keyword densities of around 5% each. Any higher percentage of keywords, for any of these sites, is usually considered spamming and is hence not an appreciated effort. Effective use of keywords in content makes keyword density work for a website's search engine optimization.

    What Makes A PR3 Web Site Come On Top For Competitive Keywords? My web site has a PR of 5, still I’m not being able to get top postions.. I think I have pretty revelant links, but others with lesser PR, lesser no of links are surpassing me. What could be the reason? Internal optimisation? like keyword density, meta tags, internal linking etc? or even more relevant links?

    • First of all, throw pagerank out the window, pagerank is irrelevant.

      It could be a handful of things, but definitely not meta tags.

      I’ll give you 5 guesses at why you’re being outranked…

      1. Domain age. Your competitors domain is older and more trusted.

      2. Anchor text. Your competitor’s links have better anchor text.

      3. Authority of domains linking to your competitor. Like you said. Do a Yahoo Directory/DMoz cross check.

      4. # of unique and quality pages in google’s index. I’ve found that trusted/aged websites with lots of pages in the index are very hard to pass in the search results.

      5. Keywords in domain and onsite optimization. Are you using the best onsite optimization techniques like css image replacement? Do you have unique title tags for every page?

      5b. Domain age again. Is your domain still new? It may take 6 months or more, but once your domain gains trust with google you may see your website leapfrog all your competitors overnight.

      to go out and get all the same links your competitors have. Usually if they got em, you can get em.

    How To Choose Search Engine Professional Optimization Firm? Need to hire a search engine professional optimization firm can anyone recommend tips to avoid getting burnt?

    • Ask any candidate SEO firm a simple question:

      Show me one of your client’s site which can be found using “generic” keywords [not a domain name] as a search query on or search engines and limit the generic keyword query to no more than 4 words. The search result must show that the website is PageRanked within the top 15 search results.

      If your candidate SEO firm says that cannot be done. Then perhaps consider spending $20 on Peter Kent’s “Search Engine Optimization for Dummies.. which provides sufficient expert strategies to elevate your website to a greater audience on major search engines.

    What are some of the safest search engines?

    • It’s not the Search Engine, more than it is the site that you pick.

      Google, Yahoo, Bing, etc. do not have control on which sites are viral and safe, in all reality, it’s the money the company pays to get their site at the top of the list.

      If the site is infected, or is in means of giving you a virus, the site is probably not on the 1st or 2nd page, technically.

      When you search something, the company pays millions to get their site on the first and second page of the search results, and if the site is only there to infect your computer, they will not spend that much money to get it up there. Since they aren’t making money, and if they do, it’s not enough to put it in the top results…

    Article Keyword Density Tool? I’m looking for a tool I found online once that allows you to paste your article (one that has not yet been published on the internet) into it and it will tell you your keyword density for your chosen keyword (going for long tail).

    The only tools I’m pulling up at the moment are tools that will check the density based on a URL, but like I said I want to be able to copy and paste my articles that are not yet online into it to check before publishing.
