Better Solution

You can create a blog or design a very simple website with the site-building tools provided by your web hosting service to start developing your online presence while you still work on learning HTML or another language.

Design Trends

Creating a very simple design is often a better solution. Your visitors might have a hard time navigating your cWeb Designontent if you create a design that is too complex and not practical. Your design should be simple, professional and easy to navigate. Base your design on popular templates or try imitating similar quality designs you saw on other websites. Creating a simple and professional web design will convey a positive image of your website.

Learning Html

Make sure you create a design that is up to date. You should do some research about current web design trends and try implementing them on your website. A web design that is not up to date will not convey a professional image of your brand. You should create a new design for your site every two or three years. Make small changes if you can easily update your design as new trends emerge. You can stay up to date with current web design trends by subscribing to some newsletters or blogs written by web design experts.

Positive Image

Hire a professional web designer if you cannot create the kind of design you want with the tools available to you. Talk to different web designer and ask if you can see their portfolios. Look for a professional who has a few designs similar to what you want in their portfolio. You should be as specific as possible about what you want and give some feedback to your web designer. Agree on payment and on a deadline before you hire a web designer.

Professional Image

Create a design that will not get in the way of your search engine optimization campaign. Your design should be simple, error free and properly optimized. Use strong keywords to describe elements that cannot easily be interpreted, including JavaScript and Flash elements. Using an image as your background or your header is not a good option since search engine spiders will not be able to interpret your pages properly. Test your links and run your pages through the W3C websites to make sure there are no errors in your code.

Professional Web Design

These tips will help you create an excellent design for your website. Take the time to acquire more web design skills so you can create a professional website that is easy to navigate.

Web Design/coding, What Should I Start With, And Any Tips? HTML5? CSS? Javascript? I’m pretty decent at Photoshop and want to give web design a go. I am pretty familiar with basic coding in C++ and figured that I would enjoy web design. What should I take the time to learn? Any useful websites that any of you guys know of? Any book suggestions?

    • Start out with HTML5, because that’s what the structure of a web page is made of. After you’ve gotten the structure down, learn CSS. Usually at this point, if you already have some sort of wireframe of your web design in Photoshop, you would integrate it with your CSS so that what you drew up actually gets coded. Finally, you can learn Javascript if you want your site to have a bit more fancy functionality (though it’s by no means necessary unless you want to do something complicated).

Web Hosting Prices Change? I’m trying to get the best deal on domains and it came down between http://godaddy.com, http://thomasinternetcompany.com and http://googahost.com

The last two sites look the same so it may be a template, but that’s besides the point. I would like to understand why the prices change so often and which one you think is the best site to buy from in terms of what you get.

Amateur Needs Help On Internet Domain Transfer(s)? I am buying a series of Internet Domains from a friend-am a neubie to most of it. I know how to publish to sites, basic web design. But am at a loss on how I go about taking ownership of sites previously owned by another entity. Also , previous owner has some trivial money making links, such as googleads and want me to take ownership of those as well and THIS is where I am clueless as how to aquire these. Any sites or resources out there that have an “Idioits Guide” available for this or even just some good advise by someone who has done this. Any Tips, greatly appreciated

How Is Web Hosting At Godaddy Supposed To Work? I’ve uploaded an html file to the ‘html’ directory in my hosting account but whenever I try to call the web page in my browser I get a “file not found” error. What do I have to do to get the host to load my html file when my domain is called? Am I missing something here? I’m using DreamWeaver to upload the files. I don’t get this at all and GoDaddy ‘help’ section is not very helpful at all. I’m eager to get my site up and running, can someone give me a hand please? This should be a simple thing but it’s not.
Thanks, I registered the domain name about a week ago and GoDaddy said they’d handle the DNS changes but I’ll check anyway…anyone else?
OMG David and Ron thank you so much. As it turns out you were both correct.

David, while GoDaddy said they would change the DNS info they didn’t. Now, this may be my fault since, um, well I forgot to turn off domain forwarding from sedo.com. So after I did that I went into my email from GoDaddy and got the correct DNS settings. I then changed the manually. Then Ron, I changed my test html file to index.html and it worked like a charm.

    Thanks so much guys!

Anyone Have Web Designing Tips? I need lots of tips im really into it but i want to know best software and best web host and much more

    • Listed below are some useful and rather important tips for designing a professional and high quality web site:

      * Neat and Easy Navigation: Navigation of links on your site plays a big role in determining the stickiness of your site (how long your visitor stays and explores your site). Ask yourself this, What do visitors do as soon as they open your site? They would probably read the content of the present page and then look around to find any other page that interests them.

      * Clean Layout Design: A clean layout that uses a lot of white space enhances a site’s looks. Try to keep the focus on your content, use a template for this. Use fonts that will be available on all computers to prevent your site looking messed up.

      * Optimum Load Time: Make sure your load time is low. For this you must:
      – Minimize Graphics, Flash and scripts: They hugely increase your file size.
-Optimize your HTML & script code: Make sure that your site doesn’t have any unwanted tags or unused scripts.
-Use Server Side Include (SSI) files where ever possible. SSI files once called from the web server reside in its cache so on subsequent requests they load faster.

      * Design for all Screen Resolutions: A site that is easy-to-use always encourages visitors to stay and read your content. For site with long pages of content this is very crucial as the amount of scrolling required is reduced. Suppose your site doesn’t look good for a particular resolution it is very probable that the visitor will close the browser window feeling that the web page is not for their viewing. Designing stretch layouts that fit any screen resolution ensures that you know all your visitors see a visually appealing and professional site.

      * Ensure Web site scalability: Make sure your code and design is scalable. As technology advances and configuration of computers & their monitors keep increasing and varying it is impossible to test your site in all screen sizes and platforms.

      * Cross Browser Compatible: Make sure you check your site for Internet Explorer 5+, Mozilla Firefox 1.0, Opera 7.0 and Netscape Navigator 6+ as they constitute 95% of the worlds browsers.

      Hope this helps.
